MACS - Agharkar Research Institute (ARI) is an autonomous institute under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. The institute has released advertisement ADVT/RecT/AMAAS-ICAR/05/SP-355/2026-27 for a temporary Young Professional I post under project AMAAS-ICAR-SP-355. The project is titled Fungal Diversity, taxonomic characterization and Identification.

This is a temporary project position, so it is not a permanent ARI or funding agency post. The project period is up to 31 December 2026, and the post code is AMAAS-ICAR-05-2026-27-YPI. The work is linked to the Biodiversity and Palaeobiology (Fungi) Group, with Dr. S.K. Singh as PI and Dr. Shiwali Rana as Co-PI.

Who Can Apply?

Essential Qualification

• Qualification: You need a Bachelor's Degree with 1st Class in Life Sciences.
• Preferred subjects: Botany, Biotechnology, Microbiology or related Life Sciences subjects are preferred.
• Minimum age: You should be at least 21 years old.

Desirable Qualification and Skills

• Higher qualification: A Master's Degree in Life Sciences, preferably Botany, Biotechnology, Microbiology or related subjects, is desirable.
• Fungal research skills: Experience in fungal isolation, culturing, preservation, taxonomy, nomenclature and systematics is desirable.
• Bioinformatics: Working knowledge of sequence alignment and phylogenetic tree construction tools is desirable.
• Interview language: You can choose to appear for the interview in Hindi if needed.

Best fit: This role is strongest for Life Sciences graduates who already have fungal taxonomy or microbiology lab exposure. The essential qualification is the minimum requirement, and ARI may shortlist applicants if many forms are received.

Age Limit

• Minimum age is 21 years.
• Maximum age is 45 years.
• Age is counted as of the closing date of the advertisement, which is 24 June 2026.
• Age relaxation: OBC, SC, ST and other eligible categories will get relaxation as per Government of India rules.

Salary

• The Young Professional I will get a fixed monthly stipend of Rs. 30,000.
