ISRO's U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC) is hiring 17 Junior Research Fellows for research work in satellite technology, electronics, optics, computer science, aerospace and mechanical domains. U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), Bengaluru is the lead ISRO centre for satellite technology, including spacecraft design, development, testing and mission support. Advertisement No. URSC:02:2026 invites online applications for Junior Research Fellow positions. Selection is through screening and interview, so there is no written exam announced in the notice.

Who Can Apply?

For JRF-E1 to JRF-E12 and JRF-M1 to JRF-M3

  • Qualification: M.E., M.Tech, M.Sc (Engg.) or equivalent postgraduate degree in the relevant discipline.
  • Marks: First class with at least 60% aggregate or 6.5 CGPA/CPI on a 10-point scale.
  • National test: You must have CSIR-UGC NET, GATE or an equivalent national-level qualification conducted by central government departments, agencies or institutions.

For JRF-E13

  • M.Sc route: First-class M.Sc in Mathematics or Physics with at least 65% average or 6.84 CGPA/CPI.
  • M.Tech route: M.Tech or equivalent postgraduate degree in Aerospace with at least 60% or 6.5 CGPA/CPI.
  • National test: NET, GATE, JAM, JEST or an equivalent national-level examination is required as per the notice.

Other Eligibility Conditions

  • Passed candidates only: Final-result-waiting students are not eligible.
  • ODL restriction: Professional courses completed through Open and Distance Learning are not accepted for these JRF posts.
  • Nationality: Only Indian nationals need to apply.

Age Limit

  • Maximum age is 28 years as on 11 July 2026.
  • SC/ST: 5 years relaxation.
  • OBC: 3 years relaxation.
  • Other relaxations: Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, widows, divorced women and women judicially separated from husbands get relaxation as per Government of India rules.

Fellowship and Benefits

  • JRF Fellowship: Rs. 37,000 per month.
  • SRF Fellowship: May increase to Rs. 42,000 per month after assessment and project requirement.
  • HRA: Paid at prescribed rates if hostel accommodation is not provided.
  • Other benefits: Medical benefits for self, casual leave, maternity leave for women JRFs and subsidised canteen facility as per rules.
  • No DA: Dearness Allowance will not be paid.
