Tezpur University, a Central University established by an Act of Parliament and located at Napaam, Assam, has released Advertisement No. 19/2026 to engage 2 Guest Faculty members for the Centre for Yoga & Sports Sciences for the Autumn Semester 2026. One post is for Yoga and the other for Physical Education and Sports. Selection is based purely on interview performance — academic scores are used only to shortlist candidates when there are too many applicants. Candidates with a Ph.D., teaching experience, and publications in the relevant subject are preferred.

Who Can Apply?

For Yoga:

• You need a Master's degree in Yoga with at least 55% marks from an Indian or foreign university, plus a qualifying NET/SLET/SET score or a Ph.D. in Yoga as per UGC regulations.
• OR a Master's degree in any discipline with at least 55% marks, plus a Ph.D. in Yoga as per UGC regulations.

For Physical Education:

• You need a Master's Degree in Physical Education and Sports (M.P.E/M.P.E.S/M.P.Ed) with at least 55% marks from an Indian university or an equivalent foreign degree, plus a qualifying NET/SLET/SET score or a Ph.D. as per UGC regulations.
• OR a Ph.D. from a foreign university ranked among the top 500 (QS/THE/ARWU rankings).

Candidates with a PhD, teaching experience in the relevant subject, and publications will be preferred for both posts. Relevant UGC/AICTE/NCTE regulations will apply for minimum educational qualification and screening.

Salary

• You will be paid Rs. 1,500 per lecture, subject to a maximum of Rs. 50,000 per month.
• No other allowances will be admissible.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

1. Shortlisting: If a large number of candidates apply, you will be shortlisted for the interview based on your academic score (as per UGC Regulations 2018, Appendix II).
2. Interview: Final selection is based purely on your performance in the personal interview before the Selection Committee.

If shortlisting is required, your academic score will be assessed out of 100 marks as follows:

• Graduation: up to 15 marks (80%+ = 15, 60-80% = 13, 55-60% = 10, 45-55% = 5)
• Post-Graduation: up to 25 marks (80%+ = 25, 60-80% = 23, 55-60% = 20)
• M.Phil.: up to 7 marks
• Ph.D.: 30 marks
• NET with JRF: 7 marks, NET: 5 marks, SLET/SET: 3 marks
• Research Publications: up to 10 marks (2 marks per publication in a peer-reviewed/UGC-listed journal)
• Teaching/Post-Doctoral Experience: up to 10 marks (2 marks per year)
• Awards: International/National level — 3 marks each; State level — 2 marks each
