Tezpur University Asst Professor Design Recruitment 2026: Overview

Tezpur University, a Central University in Assam, is filling one Assistant Professor (Contractual) post and one Guest Faculty post in its Department of Design, which functions under the School of Engineering. The Assistant Professor role runs for eleven months with a possible extension based on performance, while the Guest Faculty position covers the Autumn Semester 2026 or until a regular appointment is made, whichever is earlier. Candidates with a strong academic background in design, fine arts, applied arts or architecture, along with relevant teaching or industry experience, can apply.

Posts and Disciplines

• Assistant Professor (Contractual): requires a PhD in Design, Interaction Design, Product Design or Visual Communication Design; engaged for eleven months.
• Guest Faculty: open to candidates with a Bachelor's degree or four-year diploma in Design, Fine Arts, Applied Arts or Architecture (or a B.Tech with First Class), plus a relevant Master's degree or PG Diploma.

Post-wise Duties

Assistant Professor (Contractual)

You will teach core and elective courses in the Department of Design, guide student design projects, and take part in the department's academic and administrative activities for the duration of your contract.

Guest Faculty

You will take assigned lectures for the Autumn Semester, help with design coursework, and support students on ongoing design projects as needed by the department. You will also assist in evaluating student assignments and maintaining attendance records as guided by the Head of the Department.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Shortlisting: Academic score under UGC Regulations 2018 is used only to shortlist candidates for interview; the final selection is based purely on interview performance.
• Interview: Shortlisted candidates must appear in person before the Selection Committee; the schedule will be announced later.
• Allowances: No other allowances are paid beyond the fixed monthly amount for either post.
• Desirable experience: Candidates with at least two years of professional design experience in industry or a research organisation, or teaching/research experience at a University or Institute of National Importance, will have an edge for the Assistant Professor post.
