NIT Agartala Library Professional Trainee Recruitment 2026: Overview

National Institute of Technology Agartala (NIT Agartala), an Institute of National Importance in Tripura, wants fresh library science post-graduates to join its Central Library as Library Professional Trainees. This is a fixed-period internship, not a regular job — think of it as a paid, hands-on first year in a busy technical library. The institute is looking for tech-savvy, motivated freshers with a consistently good academic record, so it suits you if you finished your MLISc very recently and want real campus-library experience on your CV.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Only recent MLISc batches: the degree must have been passed in 2025 or 2026; anyone who passed the MLIS or an equivalent exam before 2025 should not apply.
• Result awaited: you can still apply if your final result is expected before the test and interview date, but you must show the final First Division marksheet on that day.
• Tenure: the internship runs for 12 months from joining. It may be extended by another 12 months based on your performance and the institute's needs, but it can never go beyond two years.
• Working pattern: expect shift duty, including night shifts, a six-day week, and holiday duty on a rotation basis.
• Leave: you can take up to 30 days of holidays a year, but not more than 7 days at a stretch.
• Termination: the training can be ended at any time if the trainee is not serious about it.
• No claim to a regular post: selection does not give you any right to permanent employment at NIT Agartala, and trainees do not get housing, medical or other benefits meant for regular staff.
• Hostel: a hostel room with mess may be given on a payment basis, subject to availability.
• Open to all: the internship is open to eligible candidates from all castes and categories.
• Certificate: you get an experience certificate once you complete the training.
• No TA/DA: no travel allowance is paid for attending the test or interview.
