NIT Agartala Multi-Post Recruitment 2026: Overview

National Institute of Technology Agartala (NIT Agartala), a central institute under the Ministry of Education, is filling Group B and Group C non-teaching posts on a regular, direct-recruitment basis at its campus in Jirania, West Tripura. The drive covers eight technical and support roles, from lab and workshop staff to engineers, library staff and a campus pharmacist. There is no interview for any post — your rank depends only on the Computer Based Test, plus a skill test where one applies. The rules for each post follow the 2019 Recruitment Rules notified for non-teaching staff in all NITs.

Posts and Disciplines

• Technical Assistant (Group B): technical support posts in the institute's departments and labs, open to engineering, MCA and science graduates.
• Junior Engineer (Civil/Electrical, Group B): campus works posts split between civil and electrical engineering, with a separate engineering paper for each stream.
• Library and Information Assistant (Group B): central library posts for graduates who also hold a library science degree.
• SAS Assistant (Group B): Sports and Student Activities posts for physical education graduates with a strong record in sports or cultural activities.
• Pharmacist (Group C): a single post at the institute's health centre for registered pharmacists.
• Senior Technician and Technician (Group C): workshop and laboratory posts in the engineering and science departments, open to ITI, diploma and science 10+2 holders.
• Lab Attendant (Group C): entry-level lab support posts for science 10+2 holders.

Post-wise Duties

Technical Assistant

You will run and maintain laboratory equipment, prepare lab sessions for students and help faculty with experiments and research work.

Junior Engineer (Civil/Electrical)

You will look after campus buildings, roads and electrical systems, supervise contractors on site, and prepare estimates and measurement records for maintenance and new works.

Library and Information Assistant

You will manage book issue and return, catalogue new titles, maintain the library software and help students and faculty find resources.

SAS Assistant

You will organise sports events, cultural programmes and student clubs, look after sports equipment and grounds, and coordinate inter-NIT competitions.

Pharmacist

You will dispense medicines at the institute health centre, keep stock and expiry records, and guide patients on dosage.

Senior Technician, Technician and Lab Attendant

You will set up and maintain workshop machines and lab instruments, keep consumables in stock and support students during practical classes. Lab Attendants handle cleaning, arranging and basic upkeep of lab apparatus.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Probation: One year, with confirmation after satisfactory completion under the NIT Act and Statutes.
• First Class rule: Where a post needs a First Class degree or diploma and your certificate does not state the class, you need at least 6.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale or 60% marks. Conversions between CGPA and percentage by your college are not accepted.
• Reserved candidates on UR seats: If you use a category relaxation in age, marks or any other concession, you will be considered only against reserved vacancies of your category.
• Serving employees: Government, PSU and university staff must bring a No Objection Certificate at document verification, or they will not be allowed to take part.
• Eligibility date: Age, qualification and other conditions are counted as on the closing date of the online application.
• Separate forms: Applying for more than one post needs a separate form and fee for each; the institute will not adjust exam timings if two of your posts clash.
• Tie-breaking: Equal CBT scores are settled by Part A marks first, then by the earlier date of birth.
• Travel: No TA/DA is paid for attending the test or document verification.
• Jurisdiction: Any legal dispute falls under the Tripura High Court only.
