Nagaland University Project Staff (Research Assistant and Field Investigator) Recruitment 2026 - 4 Posts

Nagaland University, a Central University established by an Act of Parliament, has invited applications for 4 temporary project positions in an ICSSR-sponsored major research project titled "Border Management across India's Border with Myanmar: Challenges to India's National Security". The project runs under Principal Director Prof. Pum Khan Pau at the Department of History & Archaeology, Kohima Campus. All posts are coterminous with the project and will end when the project is completed. Fresh postgraduates and graduates in social sciences can apply.

Who Can Apply?

Research Assistant (1 post)

• You must have a Post Graduate degree in a social sciences discipline with at least 55% marks.
• You should also have NET / M.Phil / Ph.D.
• Skills in academic writing, research design, fieldwork and data analysis software are preferred.

Field Investigator (3 posts)

• You must have a Graduate or Post Graduate degree in a social sciences discipline with at least 55% marks.
• Preference is given to candidates familiar with the local context and fluent in the regional or local dialect, since fieldwork covers Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram.

Salary

• Research Assistant: Rs. 37,000 per month for a tenure of 19 months
• Field Investigator: Rs. 20,000 per month for short-term, phase-wise fieldwork of up to 2 months
• No TA/DA or other allowances are admissible. Fieldwork expenses follow the rules of the affiliating university/institute.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based on academic merit and an interview:

1. Shortlisting: The Screening/Selection Committee shortlists candidates based on academic merit, research experience and relevance to the project. Meeting the minimum eligibility does not guarantee a call for interview.
2. Interview: Only shortlisted candidates are notified by email about the online or offline interview, with at least seven days' notice. No TA/DA is paid for attending.

The decision of the duly constituted Selection Committee and the university is final and binding.
