NIT Mizoram Temporary Faculty Recruitment 2026: Overview

National Institute of Technology Mizoram (NIT Mizoram) is engaging Temporary Faculty for its BS&HSS English and Mechanical Engineering departments at Chaltlang, Aizawl. The institute is an Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Education and runs undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes, so the selected teachers will work in an active technical-education environment. These are temporary academic engagements for candidates with a strong record and an interest in both teaching and research.

The two disciplines call for different academic profiles but share the same expectation: clear classroom teaching backed by subject knowledge. The English role supports the humanities and language side of the institute's programmes, while the Mechanical Engineering role serves core engineering teaching with preference for manufacturing, production or thermal specialisation.

Posts and Disciplines

• BS&HSS English: teach English within the Basic Sciences and Humanities and Social Sciences department, supporting students across technical programmes. The role needs a relevant doctorate and a consistently strong record in English studies.
• Mechanical Engineering: teach and support departmental academic work in mechanical-engineering subjects. Manufacturing or Production Engineering is the first preferred specialisation, followed by Thermal Engineering.

Post-wise Duties

Temporary Faculty in English

You will plan and deliver English and communication-focused classes, assess student work and help technical students build clear academic language. You will also support departmental academic activity and pursue suitable scholarly work.

Temporary Faculty in Mechanical Engineering

You will teach mechanical-engineering courses, prepare learning material, assess students and support practical or project activity linked to your specialisation. The department may assign courses based on its semester needs and your academic background.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Temporary tenure: The initial engagement is for one semester. It may be extended after a performance review and a mandatory service break, subject to institute and Ministry of Education guidelines, up to the notified maximum of five semesters.
• No regularisation claim: The engagement does not create any right to a permanent post at NIT Mizoram.
• Shortlisting: Holding the minimum qualification does not guarantee an interview call. The institute will shortlist candidates before the presentation and interview.
• Interview mode: Shortlisted candidates will attend in hybrid mode through NIT Mizoram; the institute will publish the shortlist on its website.
• Travel: No TA or DA is payable for attending the presentation or interview.
• Current employment: Applicants working in government, semi-government, public-sector or educational institutions must apply through the proper channel or provide a No Objection Certificate at the interview.
• Foreign qualifications: A degree from a foreign university must be supported by an Association of Indian Universities equivalence certificate.
