NIT Goa Professor of Practice Recruitment 2026: Overview

National Institute of Technology Goa (NIT Goa), an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, is bringing experienced practitioners into campus as Professor of Practice and Associate Professor of Practice. These are full-time, non-regular faculty roles designed to connect classroom learning with real industry, government and professional practice. You must be ready to move to the Cuncolim campus and work with students and faculty in person throughout the appointment.

The recruitment follows the Ministry of Education framework for stronger industry-academia interaction. It values senior professional leadership, applied innovation and evidence of work that has reached the field. Traditional regular-faculty norms do not automatically control these practitioner positions, and exceptional contributors may still be considered under the notice.

Posts and Disciplines

• Professor of Practice: the senior practitioner role is intended for established professionals who can bring deep domain leadership and real-world decision-making into teaching, research and institute development.
• Associate Professor of Practice: this role gives experienced professionals a route to teach, mentor projects and build industry connections while contributing at a level matched to their professional background.
• Engineering fields: Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.
• Science and Humanities fields: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Economics.

Post-wise Duties

Professor of Practice

You will use senior professional experience to shape practice-oriented courses, guide applied projects and help the institute identify new programmes or centres. The role can also connect NIT Goa with industry, government, research laboratories and other external partners.

Associate Professor of Practice

You will take a regular teaching and mentoring role, help students connect projects with outside stakeholders and support continuing education, outreach, innovation and entrepreneurship. Your work should turn field experience into learning that students can use.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Campus presence: this is not a remote or visiting assignment; you must reside at NIT Goa and engage physically with the campus community.
• Tenure: the initial appointment is for one year. Any continuation depends on a rigorous performance review and the institute's requirements.
• Nature of post: these are contractual, tenure-based practitioner positions and not regular faculty appointments.
• Assessment focus: the Standing Committee may give greater weight to senior management experience and practical innovation than to conventional academic research.
• Industry lien: a person appointed as Professor of Practice may be allowed to retain a lien on an industry position.
• Institutional discretion: the institute may fill or leave the posts unfilled and may adjust engagement terms under its statutes and Board of Governors decisions.
