IIT Roorkee Project Associate Urban Public Finance Recruitment 2026: Overview
Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) is hiring a Project Associate in Urban Public Finance within the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences. This contractual role belongs to the Gates Foundation sponsored project Research on public finance, revenue mobilization and economic growth, led by Dr. Manish K. Singh at Roorkee.
The project places urban local government finances at the centre of this role: how local bodies raise their own revenue, receive transfers, spend funds and provide public services. If you join, your research setting will connect administrative and survey evidence with questions about local public finance and economic growth.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Project tenure: The initial engagement lasts 12 months. The notice allows an extension of up to 12 months, so you should treat any extension as a possibility rather than an assured continuation.
- Equal-merit preference: SC/ST applicants and women receive preference when qualifications and experience are equal. This condition applies to the comparison of applicants described in the notice.
- Interview expenses: The institute will not pay travel or daily allowance for attending the interview. You will need to account for these expenses yourself if you attend.

Master's degree in Economics, Statistics or a closely related field.

Research or work experience in public finance, urban economics, local government finance or applied econometrics; quantitative data analysis and handling large administrative or survey datasets.

Desirable: hands-on Python and R, quantitative data analysis and work with large administrative or survey datasets.
