IITR Project Associate (Household and Personal Finance) Recruitment 2026: Overview
Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IITR) is recruiting a Project Associate (Household and Personal Finance) for a research project at Roorkee. The post belongs to a Gates Foundation-sponsored project on public finance, revenue mobilisation and economic growth, led by Dr. Manish K. Singh in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences. This research theme connects financial-market developments with household choices about income, savings, debt, investments and insurance, with attention to the constraints that shape those choices and the ability of households to manage financial risk. You would join the project through a fixed-term research engagement.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Project appointment: The engagement is tied to the sponsored research project in the Humanities and Social Sciences department. Keep this project setting in mind when considering whether the role fits your plans.
- Tenure: The initial appointment lasts 12 months, with an extension of up to 12 months mentioned in the notice. Treat the extension as a possibility, rather than an assured longer appointment.
- Preference: SC/ST applicants and women receive preference when qualifications and experience are equal. The notice makes this preference conditional on that comparison.
- Interview travel: IITR will not pay travel or daily allowances for attending the interview. You will need to meet those costs yourself if you attend.

Master's degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Econometrics, or a closely related field, with demonstrated experience in econometric modelling, statistical analysis, and quantitative research.
वांछित योग्यता
Prior research on financial decisions, household balance sheets, savings, investment, borrowing, insurance, retirement planning, or related subjects.
आवश्यक कौशल
Strong practical Python and R skills; ability to analyse large financial and household datasets; strong understanding of financial and securities markets, equity, derivatives, currency markets, insurance, and household finance.
