ChPA Senior PS to Chairman Recruitment 2026: Overview

Chennai Port Authority (ChPA) is filling the Senior PS to Chairman post through absorption or deputation. The senior post is attached to the Chairman in the General Administration Department. The circular provides an absorption or deputation route for serving Major Port officers to move into this Class I appointment in Chennai. The circular was sent to the chairpersons of Major Port Authorities, excluding KPL.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Appointment terms: If you are selected, your absorption or deputation will follow the terms prescribed by the Central Government. Read these together with the recruitment rules attached to the circular.
• Recruitment rules: The annexure contains provisions for more than one recruitment method. Use the absorption/deputation provisions when assessing this circular, because the direct-recruitment columns describe a different route.
• Joining commitment: You must be willing to join if selected and give an undertaking that you will not withdraw. Your current Port Authority must also agree to relieve you.
• Probation: The attached recruitment rules list a probation period of two years. The appointment is also subject to the applicable Central Government terms for absorption or deputation.
• Forwarding requirement: ChPA will consider applications received through the proper channel only. Your employer’s forwarding is part of the application, so completing the online form alone does not complete the submission.
• Incomplete or late applications: The port will not consider a file that arrives late or lacks the required enclosures. The receiving office must get the complete forwarded application within the notified window.

Application Submission Notes

The notice names the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways’ Online Application Portal (OAP) for the online application. Send its printout through your current Port Authority to The Secretary, Chennai Port Authority, Rajaji Salai, Chennai 600 001.

Your port must forward the application with the prescribed certifications and service particulars. Coordinate with your forwarding office so that the completed file reaches ChPA; a personal online submission does not replace this requirement.
