IIM Mumbai MahaTAC Multi Post Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Management Mumbai (IIM Mumbai) and CRISP are building the Maharashtra Technical Assistance Cell (MahaTAC) at the Powai campus to support the Government of Maharashtra. The cell will review major state policies and track welfare-scheme results, reporting to the Chief Minister's Office. These are project contracts combining campus work with field visits and stakeholder discussions across Maharashtra.

Posts and Disciplines

• Senior Associate (Policy): Policy portfolios cover industry, manufacturing, information technology, and energy and electric mobility.
• Associate (Evaluation and Data): This role follows welfare schemes through recurring evaluation rounds and connects administrative records with field evidence.
• Research Associate: This role supports survey design and the quality of the cell's statistical analysis.
• Project Manager (Projects, Accounts and Administration): This role brings together project scheduling, accounts and administrative arrangements.

Post-wise Duties

Senior Associate (Policy)

You will examine your assigned policy area, speak with stakeholders and prepare Empowered Mission proposals for Cabinet consideration. Your work includes comparing incentives offered by other states and examining practical constraints such as land, electricity, clearances and investment payback.

Associate (Evaluation and Data)

You will develop sampling frames, adapt survey tools and supervise field checks. You will compare programme records, payment files and treasury spending with observations on the ground, then prepare reproducible analysis and dashboard inputs for the state.

Research Associate

You will design sample rotation, calculate survey weights and account for missing responses. You will also review outcome comparisons, district performance and the Data Reliability Score, helping the team check whether its findings are well supported.

Project Manager (Projects, Accounts and Administration)

You will coordinate the quarterly work calendar, agreements, field-agency arrangements and project accounts. The role also covers utilisation certificates, statutory compliance, student payments, workshops, equipment, insurance and the project repository.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project approval: Every offer depends on the agreement between the state government, IIM Mumbai and CRISP being executed and the project receiving sanction.
• Contract: The appointment runs for one year from joining. A second year depends on performance and project continuation; the contract gives no claim to a regular appointment with any participating organisation.
• Performance and exit: Reviews take place after the third month and after each quarterly round. Either side can end the contract with one month's notice or pay in place of notice.
• Field commitment: Powai is your base, but district field duty is compulsory. Senior Associates and Associates spend 12–15 days each quarter on fieldwork and consultation, including rural, tribal and remote areas.
• Leave: Leave is normally unavailable during field rounds and the following reporting fortnight, so plan personal commitments around this work cycle.
• Confidentiality: You must sign a data-protection undertaking and follow the project's data-sharing rules. Aadhaar numbers must not be collected or stored, and findings cannot be shared with the press, on social media or with outside parties.
• Conflicts of interest: Declare family members who hold elected or official positions in covered districts or departments. You will not verify work in those areas; private consultancy connected with the covered schemes, policies or departments is also prohibited.
