IIM Mumbai Postdoctoral Fellow Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Management Mumbai (IIM Mumbai) is offering its Institute Post-Doctoral Fellowship (IPDF) across academic areas, centres and interdisciplinary programmes at its Mumbai campus. The scheme supports early-career research in management and allied fields, with an emphasis on stronger publications and work that can inform policy. Service Conditions and Caveats

• Initial term: Your fellowship starts with a one-year appointment. It can continue for up to two further years, making the maximum term three years, if your academic performance is satisfactory and the required approval is given.
• Extension approval: The Director decides on continuation using recommendations from the Dean responsible for Research, Innovation and Outreach and your faculty mentor. An extension is conditional, so the initial appointment does not promise the full maximum term.
• Mentor pairing: Your mentor will be a regular IIM Mumbai faculty member in a relevant or allied discipline. The Dean recommends the pairing, and the Institute Executive Committee approves it.
• Progress review: You must provide a mentor-endorsed progress report every six months. Annual continuation considers both your research performance and your contribution to institutional activities.
• Publication expectation: The notice expects at least two research papers each year in relevant peer-reviewed journals, referring to Q1 journals and Web of Science. Your publication work forms part of the fellowship's ongoing academic expectations.
• Academic contribution: Alongside your own research, the academic unit may assign reasonable teaching support, case development, research coordination or committee work connected with the institute.
• Reservation: Government of India reservation guidelines apply to the fellowship positions. The notice does not provide an allocation for each research area or reservation category.
• Discontinuation: Unsatisfactory performance or a breach of institute conduct or policy can end the fellowship, following due process and review by the Research Committee.
