IIM Indore has released notification for 2 Library Professional Assistant posts on a contract basis. Candidates with a Master's Degree in Library and Information Science (MLISc) with First Class and 3 years of experience can apply via email. Last date to apply is 01 April 2026. The contract is for 1 year, extendable up to 3 years based on performance.

IIM Indore Library Professional Assistant Recruitment 2026 — 2 Posts

Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM Indore), established in 1996, is one of India's top management institutions promoted by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. It holds the prestigious Triple Crown accreditation from EQUIS, AACSB, and AMBA — only the second IIM in India to achieve this. The institute is now looking for 2 Library Professional Assistants to support its Learning Centre with day-to-day academic and operational activities. This is a contractual position where you will work with library automation systems, digital repositories, and electronic resources in a technology-driven academic environment.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need a Master's Degree in Library and Information Science (MLISc) with First Class or equivalent from a recognised university or institute.
• Experience: You must have at least 3 years of post-qualification professional experience working in an academic or research library.
• Preference: Candidates who have worked in IIMs, IITs, NITs, or other Institutions of National Importance will be given preference.

Desirable Skills

• Working knowledge of library automation systems like Koha, digital repositories like DSpace, and RFID-based library operations
• Proficiency in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and data management applications
• Familiarity with e-resource management, licensing, open access resources, and scholarly communication
• Ability to handle reference queries using online and offline databases and research tools
• Good communication skills (verbal and written) with ability to multitask
• Experience in preparing user guides, reports, and promotional materials

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 36 years (as on 01 April 2026)
• You must be below 36 years of age on the last date of application.

Salary

• Selected candidates will receive a consolidated monthly pay package as per IIM Indore norms.
• The notification states that salary will not be a constraint for the deserving candidate.
• The pay package will be reviewed annually based on performance.

Selection Process

Selection will be done through the following stages:

1. Shortlisting: The institute will shortlist candidates based on qualifications, experience, and supporting documents. The institute may apply appropriate shortlisting criteria if there are many applications.
2. Interview: Only shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview. The final selection will be based on interview performance.
3. Document Verification: Selected candidates must produce all original documents at the time of joining.

Note: No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview or selection process.

• Assist in procuring library resources including print and electronic materials, handle vendor coordination, ordering, and record maintenance
• Perform cataloguing, classification, and technical processing of library materials using DDC, MARC21, and metadata standards
• Manage circulation services including membership management, issue and return of materials, and overdue tracking
• Provide reference and research support to faculty, scholars, and students including literature searches and data retrieval
• Support electronic resource access, troubleshoot database issues, and coordinate with publishers and service providers
• Conduct user orientation programmes, training sessions, and library awareness activities
• Prepare and maintain library MIS reports, usage statistics, and documentation
• Manage library technology operations including Koha ILMS, RFID systems, DSpace digital library, and discovery tools
