Gujarat University (GU) Zoology Teaching Assistant Recruitment 2026 - 2 Posts

Gujarat University has released a notification for 2 Temporary Contractual Teaching Assistant posts in the Department of Zoology, University School of Sciences, Ahmedabad. This is a 10-month adhoc engagement, and the Department of Zoology or Gujarat University can discontinue your engagement at any point based on requirement. A written exam is not compulsory — it will only be conducted if the department receives a large number of applications, so your documents and demo lecture matter just as much as your marksheet. As the appointed Teaching Assistant, you will be involved in academic, assessment and administrative work assigned by the department.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: M.Sc. in Zoology with a minimum of 55% marks from a recognized Indian university (without any grace-mark rounding).
• Additional Requirement: You must have cleared NET (UGC/CSIR) or an equivalent test such as SLET/GSET. Candidates who hold a Ph.D. under the UGC 2009/2016 regulations are exempted from NET/SLET/GSET.
• Preferred: Any teaching experience or industrial (R&D) experience is an added advantage.

Salary

• You will get a consolidated salary of Rs. 45,000 per month. No other allowance or benefit is paid.
• The stipend will not be paid during the Diwali and summer vacation periods.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in these stages:

1. Application Screening: Your application will be scrutinized at the Department level.
2. Written Test (conditional): If a large number of applications are received, the department may conduct a written test.
3. Shortlisting for Interview: Only shortlisted candidates are called for interview, as per a ratio decided by the departmental committee.
4. Document Verification: Bring your original documents — your interview process may not continue without them.
5. Demo Lecture: Keep a 10-minute PowerPoint presentation ready and be prepared to teach using the chalk-and-board method on a topic of your choice.

No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
