Post-wise Duties

Urban Planner
You would support city planning work and review planning information relevant to municipal development.
Archaeology and Museology Officer
You would support heritage and museum work, including conservation, documentation and research connected with the city’s heritage.
Deputy Environmental Engineer
You would handle environmental management and pollution-control tasks within your assigned municipal work.
GIS Operator/Expert
You would organize geographic information and support map-based work for municipal planning.
Assistant Environmental Engineer
You would help carry out environmental engineering work and keep technical information ready for the team.
Garden Supervisor
You would supervise horticulture work and help organize care of municipal gardens.
Senior Librarian
You would coordinate library operations and help keep collections and reader services organized.
Junior Librarian
You would support library services and keep book records up to date.
Assistant Garden Supervisor
You would help supervise garden and horticulture work under the assigned municipal team.
Work Assistant roles
You would support civil, mechanical, electrical or electrical-mechanical work according to the discipline of your appointment.
Draftsman (AutoCAD)

Service Conditions and Caveats
- Contract term: The engagement is for 11 months on a temporary contractual basis.
- Gujarat reservation rules: Reserved-category benefits apply to candidates originally belonging to Gujarat who meet the state’s conditions. The relevant Gujarat category status must support your claim.
- SEBC status: Reservation benefits for socially and educationally backward classes depend on non-creamy-layer status. Without the required valid status, you may apply under the general category.
- EWS status: Economically weaker section reservation depends on meeting Gujarat’s rules and holding valid supporting certification. A claim that does not meet those conditions cannot receive the reserved-category benefit.
- Horizontal reservation: Disability and ex-servicemen reservation follow the applicable government and corporation rules. Ex-servicemen selected under this provision are adjusted against their respective social category.
- Travel costs: VMC will not pay a travel allowance when you attend certificate checking.
- Accuracy: Incorrect information, incomplete details or invalid supporting claims can lead to rejection or cancellation of the contract. Attempts to influence the recruitment can also lead to disqualification.
- Changes to the drive: The Municipal Commissioner may change or cancel the advertisement. Keep checking your registered email and VMC’s website for further notices.

- Reserved categories: No further upper-age relaxation is provided because the general maximum is 45 years.
- Ex-servicemen: For qualifying ex-servicemen with at least six months of continuous military service and regular retirement, military service may be deducted from actual age. The resulting age may exceed the recruitment upper age limit by no more than 3 years, and actual age must not exceed 45 years.

You need the ITI certificate, diploma, degree or postgraduate qualification specified for your post, along with experience where listed. The maximum age is 45 years as on 25 September 2026.
Apply through the post-specific VMC online form using a desktop or laptop. The main application link opens Urban Planner, V536, while the other posts have separate forms V537 to V550 listed in the additional requirements. Check the post name before completing your form, as changes are not permitted after final submission.
You receive fixed monthly pay ranging from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 60,000, depending on the post. No additional allowances are payable.
Selection uses post-specific academic merit and the required experience conditions. Urban Planner, Archaeology and Museology Officer, GIS Operator/Expert and Deputy Environmental Engineer also have an oral interview, with four times the vacancies shortlisted. Your supporting documents are checked as part of recruitment.
