ECHS Guwahati Recruitment 2026 – Medical and Other Staff

The Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, has invited applications for 24 contractual posts at its polyclinics in Assam and Meghalaya. This recruitment is issued by Station Cell ECHS, HQ 51 Sub Area, Guwahati. Selected candidates will be posted at ECHS Polyclinics in Guwahati and Goalpara (Assam), and at MMU Tura (Meghalaya).

This is a contractual appointment. The contract period is 1 year (01 April 2026 to 31 March 2027) for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) and 11 months for civilian candidates. Ex-Servicemen are given preference for all posts.

Who Can Apply

Qualification needed depends on the post you apply for:

• Medical Officer / OIC: MBBS degree with valid registration. Max age: 68 years.
• Dental Officer: BDS degree with valid registration. Max age: 65 years.
• Dental Hygienist / Lab Technician / Pharmacist / Nursing Assistant: Diploma or B.Sc in relevant field. Max age: 58 years.
• IT Network Technician: Relevant qualification in IT networking. Max age: 58 years.
• Driver: Class 8 pass with valid driving licence. Max age: 55 years.
• Peon: Class 8 pass. Max age: 55 years.
• DEO / Data Entry Operator: Graduate with computer knowledge. Max age: 55 years.

Ex-Servicemen (ESM) are given preference for all posts. Age is calculated as on the last date of application, i.e., 09 March 2026.

Selection Process

There is no written exam for this recruitment. Selection will be done through:

1. Document Verification
2. Interview

The interview is scheduled in the third week of March 2026 at the Office of OIC Station Cell ECHS, HQ 51 Sub Area, Guwahati.

Important Note on OJT

All selected candidates must complete 10 days of mandatory unpaid On-the-Job Training (OJT) before they start their duties. This is compulsory for all posts.

• Provide medical or dental consultation and treatment to ECHS beneficiaries as per post assigned
• Maintain accurate patient records, prescriptions, and treatment files
• Dispense medicines and manage pharmacy stock (for Pharmacist post)
• Conduct lab tests, record results, and report findings to the Medical Officer (for Lab Technician post)
• Assist Medical Officers in patient care and ward management (for Nursing Assistant post)
• Perform dental hygiene procedures and assist the Dental Officer (for Dental Hygienist post)
• Manage IT network and computer systems at the polyclinic (for IT Network Technician post)
• Enter data accurately into computer systems and maintain digital records (for Data Entry Operator post)
• Drive official vehicles safely and on time (for Driver post)
