DRDO MTRDC Bengaluru is offering 10 Paid Internship posts for engineering and science students. DRDO MTRDC Paid Internship 2026 - 10 Posts

Microwave Tube Research and Development Centre (MTRDC), a premier lab of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), has released advertisement number MTRDC/HRD/PAIDINTERN/2026/01 for 10 paid internship positions at its Bengaluru campus. MTRDC works on High Power Microwave Systems and THz (Terahertz) Technologies. The internship is open to final year UG and PG students from AICTE/UGC approved colleges across six disciplines including Electronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, and Physics.

Vacancy Breakdown by Discipline

A total of 10 vacancies are available across Category (a) Under-Graduate Internship and Category (b) Post-Graduate Internship:

• Electronics Engineering (EC): ECE / EIE branches
• Mechanical Engineering (ME)
• Electrical Engineering (EE)
• Computer Science (CS)
• Physics (PH)

Each candidate must mention the relevant Branch Code on top of the application envelope.

Who Can Apply?

For Under-Graduate Internship (Category a)

• You must be a student in the 7th or 8th semester of B.Tech in Electronics/ECE/EIE, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, or Physics
• Full-time course from a recognised Indian University/Institute

For Post-Graduate Internship (Category b)

• You must be a second year M.Tech or M.Sc student in a related discipline
• Full-time course from a recognised Indian University/Institute

Other Requirements

• Academic Record: Minimum 75% marks or 7.5 CGPA from AICTE/UGC approved College/University
• Nationality: Indian citizen only
• Referral Letter: Mandatory request letter from Principal/HOD of your college

Age Limit

• You must be below 28 years of age

Salary (Monthly Stipend)

• Monthly Stipend: Rs. 5,000 per month
• Payment Condition: Stipend is paid only if you are present at the lab for a minimum of 15 working days per month
• Payment is made in two instalments — first after 3 months, second after completion of 6 months
• Stipend will be credited directly to your bank account
• No boarding or lodging expenses are admissible

Selection Process

Selection is based entirely on merit. The process is:

1. Shortlisting on CGPA: Candidates with 75% or higher (or CGPA ≥ 7.5) from AICTE/UGC approved colleges are shortlisted
2. Online Interview / Interaction: Conducted as required for shortlisted candidates
3. Document Verification: Original certificates, college ID card, and Aadhar card verified at the time of joining

No communication will be made with rejected candidates. Selected students will be informed only through the email ID provided in the application form.

3. Get a reference/request letter from your Principal or HOD on college letterhead
4. Attach copies of UG/PG mark sheets and Aadhar card

• Work on assigned R&D projects related to High Power Microwave Systems or THz Technologies
• Attend the lab for a minimum of 15 working days every month
• Follow lab guidelines, safety norms, and IT rules of the Ministry of Defence
• Prepare and submit the project report at the end of the internship
• Maintain confidentiality as per the Indian Official Secrets Act, 1923
• Clear the project evaluation conducted at the end of the internship
• Adhere strictly to internship duration and discipline rules of MTRDC
