Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) has released a notification (Ad.F1/Notification of Contract Teachers/2012 dated 02 July 2026) inviting applications for the post of Assistant Professor on Tenure Basis in the Division of Information Technology at Cochin University College of Engineering, Kuttanadu (CUCEK), against anticipated vacancies. The initial appointment is for a five-year tenure, with annual evaluations at the department level and a comprehensive review by the University in the third year — your continuation depends on satisfactory performance. This is a solid opportunity for both freshers with a qualifying Master's degree and experienced Ph.D holders, since your pay depends on whether you hold a Ph.D or not. Once your first tenure ends, CUSAT will issue a fresh notification, and you can reapply on par with new candidates based on the Selection Committee's recommendation.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need a B.E./B.Tech./B.S. and M.E./M.Tech./M.S. (or Integrated M.Tech) with First Class or equivalent in a relevant branch, as prescribed by AICTE Regulations.
• Accepted Combinations: B.Tech (CS) + M.Tech (IT), B.Tech (CS) + M.Tech (CS), B.Tech (IT) + M.Tech (CS), or B.Tech (IT) + M.Tech (IT) — any one of these four combinations makes you eligible.
• Note: CUSAT follows the qualification and selection criteria laid down under UGC Regulations 2018 for appointment of teachers, in addition to AICTE norms for this Engineering division.

Salary

• You will get a monthly remuneration of Rs. 47,000 if you hold a Ph.D degree, or Rs. 45,000 if you do not, effective from 1 July 2026.
• After five years of continuous service, you become eligible for gratuity as per the Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972 (the five-year condition does not apply in case of death or disablement).
• This is a fixed monthly pay for tenure-track contract teachers and is not part of the standard 7th CPC pay matrix.
• Tenure teachers are appointed on a continuous basis that includes the vacation period, so no separate pay is given for exam invigilation or paper valuation done during vacation, and you are not eligible for vacation denial.
• You will also be permitted to co-supervise Ph.D scholars and take up funded research projects as part of your role, and you must sign a formal service agreement with the University outlining your terms of employment.

Selection Process

Your selection will go through these steps:

1. Screening of Applications: Your online application and hard-copy documents will be checked against the eligibility criteria for this division.
2. Interview by Selection Committee: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview, and a rank list will be prepared based on the Selection Committee's recommendation, following UGC Regulations 2018 selection criteria.
3. Rank List: The published rank list stays valid for two years, and CUSAT will make appointments from it as vacancies arise.
