CUSAT Faculty Recruitment 2026: Overview

Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) is recruiting tenure faculty for the Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering in Kochi. Post-wise Duties

Associate Professor, Marine Engineering

You will connect professional shipboard practice with classroom teaching, guide advanced technical learning, and contribute to the school's maritime academic work. The role also supports research, publication and supervision under CUSAT rules.

Assistant Professor, Engineering Mathematics

You will teach mathematics for engineering learners, plan lessons and assessment work, and help students build the quantitative foundation needed for marine-engineering study. You will also take part in the academic and research work expected from tenure faculty.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure and assessment: The initial appointment runs for five years, with department-level annual reviews and a university review in the third year. Continuation depends on satisfactory performance.
• Non-vacation school: Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering is treated as a non-vacation department, so the appointees do not receive a vacation entitlement.
• Reappointment: A fresh notice and selection follow completion of the first tenure. Serving faculty may apply again, but they compete with other applicants and need the Selection Committee's recommendation.
• Research role: Tenure faculty may co-supervise PhD scholars under university rules and are encouraged to run projects, publish papers and strengthen the university's research work.
• Service agreement: Each appointee signs a formal agreement with CUSAT. Unsatisfactory performance or violation of university rules can lead to termination.
• Resignation: The normal notice period is three months, reducible to one month on the Department Council's recommendation. Leaving without the applicable notice can result in recovery of salary for that period.
• Career-credit caveat: The notification says tenure or contract teaching experience is currently not counted for appointment or promotion under the cited Government and UGC norms because the fixed package is below the corresponding UGC gross package.
• Applicable framework: Reservation orders, Kerala service rules, university statutes and Syndicate decisions govern the appointments. Related court decisions may affect the proceedings, and the rank list remains valid for two years.
