Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), a listed Miniratna Schedule A company of the Government of India, has released Vacancy Notification No. CSL/P&A/RECTT/CONTRACT/Scaffolder Trainee/2026/7 to fill 60 Scaffolder Trainee seats. This is a good start for 10th pass candidates who want to join a leading public sector shipyard. The work involves working at heights and handling materials inside the factory, so physical fitness matters for this role.

Vacancy Breakdown by Category

• Unreserved (UR): 24 seats
• OBC: 21 seats
• SC: 8 seats
• EWS: 6 seats
• ST: 1 seat

CSL may increase or decrease the number of seats, or cancel the process, as per its requirement.

Who Can Apply?

• Minimum Qualification: Pass in Class 10 (X standard).
• Maximum Qualification: Pass in Class 12 (XII standard).
• Candidates with higher qualifications such as Degree, Diploma or ITI are not eligible to apply.
• PwBD: Persons with Benchmark Disabilities should not apply, as the job involves working at heights and material handling that could be unsafe.

Age Limit

• Your upper age limit is 23 years as on 22 July 2026 (you must be born on or after 23 July 2003).
• Age Relaxation: 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) and 5 years for SC/ST candidates in seats reserved for them.

Salary

• During the 3-month training, you will get a consolidated stipend of Rs. 10,000 per month.
• Based on performance and vacancies, you may be considered for a contract post. In the first year of contract, the pay is Rs. 20,100 per month, with an annual increase in later years.
• Contract staff are also eligible for extra pay for hours worked beyond normal work hours.

Application Fee

• General / OBC / EWS: Rs. 200 (non-refundable, plus bank charges).
• SC / ST: No fee.
• Payment Mode: Online only (Debit Card / Credit Card / Internet Banking).

Selection Process

Selection is done in the following steps:

1. Shortlisting: CSL scrutinises applications and shortlists candidates based on eligibility and the certificates you upload.
2. Certificate Verification: Shortlisted candidates must produce original certificates for age, qualification and category.
3. Physical Test (100 Marks): Candidates who clear verification take the Physical Test. Pass marks are 50% for UR/EWS, 45% for OBC and 40% for SC/ST in their reserved seats.
4. Medical Fitness: Your candidature is subject to medical fitness verification.

The rank list is prepared from Physical Test marks. If two candidates score equal marks, the older candidate ranks higher.

How to Apply

2. Complete the One Time Registration on the SAP online portal.
3. Fill the online application and upload proof of age, qualification, caste and a recent photo.
4. Pay the application fee online (if applicable).
5. Submit the application and note your registration number. Check that the status shows In process.

You do not need to send any printout or certificates by post. Apply well before the last date to avoid heavy website traffic. Do not submit more than one application, as an application once submitted is final.

• Erect, assemble and dismantle scaffolding structures at shipyard work sites.
• Work safely at heights while following all safety rules and using protective gear.
• Handle and move materials within the factory premises as directed.
• Check scaffolding for stability and report any unsafe conditions.
• Support production and ship-building teams during fabrication and repair work.
• Follow instructions from supervisors and complete assigned tasks on time.
