NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), a Schedule A Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Department of Space, is filling its Chairman-cum-Managing Director position through a deputation or contract appointment. NSIL is wholly owned by the Government of India and was created to turn research and development from Indian Space Research Organisation centres and Department of Space units into commercial activity. The role therefore combines public-sector leadership with responsibility for India's growing space-business operations.

NSIL's work includes satellite ownership, satellite and launch-vehicle production, launch services, space-based services and technology transfer through Indian industry. The CMD is the company's chief executive and is accountable to its Board of Directors. This is not a narrow functional position: the appointee has to connect technical programmes with commercial decisions, corporate planning and long-term organisational growth.

The post is designed for a senior leader who can manage a company operating between government policy, advanced technology and commercial delivery. You would be expected to keep the enterprise focused on its approved goals while supervising the way its technical, administrative and business functions work together. Service Conditions and Caveats

• Appointment route: The engagement is on deputation or contract for a five-year term.
• Immediate absorption: The post is exempt from the Rule of Immediate Absorption for deputationists.
