CSIR TKDL Multi-Post Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is hiring project staff for its Traditional Knowledge Digital Library (TKDL) Unit. The project focuses on information systems that protect and promote traditional knowledge, including knowledge recorded in ancient medical texts. Posts and Disciplines

• Information Technology: Senior Project Associate work is based in Delhi, while Project Associate I posts are based in Jammu, Leh, Srinagar and Palampur. Chennai and Hyderabad have the IT Data Science posts.
• Ayurveda: Delhi has both Senior Project Associate and Project Associate I posts; Jammu has Project Associate I posts.
• Unani: Project Associate I posts are attached to Hyderabad and Srinagar.
• Sowa Rigpa: Leh has both levels of project appointment, while Palampur has Project Associate I posts.
• Siddha: Both Senior Project Associate and Project Associate I posts are based in Chennai.
• Patent: Delhi and Hyderabad each have both levels of project appointment.
• Sanskrit and Yoga: Delhi has the Senior Project Associate Sanskrit post and Project Associate I Yoga posts.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Initial tenure: Engagement runs initially up to 31 March 2027. Extensions depend on a committee review each year, or earlier when needed, and cannot continue beyond the project’s end on 31 March 2031.
• Overall service cap: Your combined project service across the TKDL Unit and other CSIR laboratories cannot exceed six years. Performance reviews can also lead to the engagement ending earlier.
• No regular appointment: The contract gives no right to absorption, regularisation or continuation after its tenure. Either side can end it with one month’s notice or one month’s stipend instead.
• Location and travel: Your posting can change at appointment or during the project, depending on its needs. Project staff may also need to travel for the work.
• Travel costs: You will not receive travel or daily allowance for attending the test or interview. Make your arrangements with this condition in mind.
• Recruitment discretion: The unit head can change the number of positions or cancel recruitment at any stage. A waiting panel will remain valid for one year for vacancies that arise later.
• Conduct: Canvassing leads to disqualification. Engagement follows CSIR’s project-staff guidelines and their amendments, and the unit head’s decision is final.
