CSIR NCL Director Recruitment 2026: Overview
Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is hiring a Director to head its National Chemical Laboratory (NCL) in Pune through a fixed-tenure appointment. The laboratory works across chemical sciences, chemical engineering, biology and materials, bringing together research teams from several disciplines. Its focus on turning research into useful technologies connects laboratory work with industrial and societal needs. If you take up this leadership role, you will join an institute whose work includes clean energy, sustainable chemical manufacturing, advanced materials and biotechnology, alongside strong links with industry and academic partners.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Tenure: Your appointment can run for six years, ending earlier if you reach superannuation. Renewal is possible only in exceptional cases, so continued service beyond the original term is not automatic.
- Possible placement: CSIR may consider the Director for absorption or placement as a Director's Grade Scientist, also described as Scientist H or Outstanding Scientist. This depends on the applicable rules; the notice does not promise that placement will follow the Director's term.
