Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is recruiting Staff Nurses for Smt. Diwaliben Mohanlal Mehta Maa General Hospital in Chembur, Mumbai. The hospital comes under the civic body's Public Health Department and its secondary health services network. This is a contract engagement to support hospital staffing, and your assignment can change with service needs.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract period: The opening part of the notice describes a six-month engagement with breaks after every 45 days. A later condition refers to appointments for one month at a time, with a one-day break after every 45 days. Check the appointment letter for the exact period offered to you.
• Early closure: Your engagement can end immediately when a nurse joins through regular recruitment. The advertised contract period therefore does not guarantee work for its full duration.
• Regular service: Working under this arrangement gives you no claim to a permanent municipal appointment. It also does not give you priority when BMC recruits regular staff for the post.
• Posting and transfers: The advertised hospital is in Chembur, but BMC may appoint or transfer contract staff within its network of 16 suburban hospitals. You should be prepared for a change of hospital if staffing needs demand it.
• Shift arrangements: The hospital can roster you across all three shifts. Weekly rest and compensatory leave follow the duty schedule approved by the hospital head, so your days off depend on that roster.
• Casual leave: The notice provides proportionate casual leave totalling seven and a half days for six months. You need the concerned department head's prior approval before taking it.
• Accommodation and travel: The hospital will not arrange residential accommodation for contract staff. You must also pay your own travel costs when attending to apply or for the hospital's checks.
• Conduct: Rule violations, objectionable behaviour, poor work or negligent patient care can lead to immediate termination without advance notice. The hospital also expects courteous behaviour towards patients, relatives, colleagues and visitors.
• Recruitment changes: Appointments depend on available posts and hospital needs. BMC may reduce the advertised strength, and the Municipal Commissioner can stop the recruitment at any stage for administrative or other reasons.

• Handle the medico-legal responsibilities connected with patient care.
• Treat patients, relatives, older visitors and colleagues courteously.
• Report patient care concerns to the responsible medical or nursing officer.
