Western Railway (WR), through its Railway Recruitment Cell, is filling Sports Quota posts across several pay levels for the 2026-27 cycle. The drive is meant for active sportspersons whose recognised achievements fall within the notification's qualifying period. This is one combined recruitment across individual and team disciplines, so you should match your event, playing position and achievement level carefully before choosing a pay level.

The notice separates the openings into Group C and erstwhile Group D categories rather than naming one railway occupation. Your eventual railway post is allotted after selection, while your sports record determines whether you can compete for the advertised level. Higher sports achievement does not automatically move you to a higher pay level if you apply for a lower one.

Posts and Disciplines

• Pay Levels 5 and 4: the highest sports-norm group covers men's athletics, gymnastics, weightlifting and freestyle wrestling, along with women's hockey.
• Pay Levels 3 and 2: opportunities span athletics, cricket, diving, football, gymnastics, hockey, powerlifting, swimming, weightlifting and freestyle wrestling across the advertised men's and women's events.
• Pay Level 1: the widest group includes athletics, ball badminton, basketball, boxing, bodybuilding, cycling, hockey, handball, kho-kho, powerlifting, swimming, volleyball, water polo and weightlifting.

Event and position details matter. Team-sport applicants must state the advertised playing position, while weight-category and track or field applicants should choose the matching event shown in the notice.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Sports record: only recognised achievements earned from the stated eligibility window up to the notification date are considered, and you must remain an active sportsperson.
• Team suitability: appointment depends on being found suitable for the Western Railway Sports Association team, not merely meeting the document conditions.
• Level choice: if you hold higher-level sports norms but apply at a lower level, you must give an undertaking that you will not later claim higher pay based on achievements earned before joining.
• Unfilled higher-level places: Western Railway may move an unfilled place to a lower level within the same discipline when no suitable applicant is available.
• Reservation: the notification states that the advertised Sports Quota drive has no SC, ST, OBC, EWS, PwBD or ex-servicemen reservation.
• Posting and transfer: selected staff may be posted anywhere on Western Railway and can be transferred under railway service needs.
• Service commitment: selected candidates must execute the prescribed five-year service bond at appointment and complete training where the allotted post requires it.
• Trial expenses: no TA, DA or accommodation is provided; you must bring your own sports kit and be ready to stay for the trial schedule.

Submit a separate online form and fee for every discipline or pay level you choose. Keep the registration number and a printout of the completed form because the printout must be produced at the sports trial; nothing needs to be sent to RRC Western Railway by post.
