Vilasrao Deshmukh Government Medical College and Hospital, Latur, under the Medical Education and Drugs Department, Government of Maharashtra, has released a notification to fill 75 Class-4 (Group D) posts through a Computer Based Test (CBT). The recruitment covers 13 different support roles across the hospital - from ward attendants and OPD staff to cooks, watchmen and lab attendants. Who Can Apply?
- Qualification: You must have passed 10th standard (SSC) from a school/board recognised by the Maharashtra state government.
- Domicile: You must be a resident of Maharashtra. A Domicile Certificate is required. If you were not born in Maharashtra but have lived continuously in the state for 5 years or more, you can submit a Domicile Certificate on that basis instead of a birth certificate.
- Language: Knowledge of Marathi is compulsory.
- Ex-Servicemen: If you don't meet the standard qualification for a technical post, you can apply if you completed 15 years of service and passed SSC, or hold an equivalent Indian Army Special Certificate of Education.
Age Limit
- Age is calculated as on 20 August 2026, the date of publication of this notification.
- Open Category: 18 to 38 years
- Backward Class (Reserved) Category: 18 to 43 years
- Persons with Disabilities: up to 45 years
- Project/Earthquake-Affected Candidates: up to 45 years
- Sportspersons: up to 43 years
- Graduate Part-time Employees: up to 55 years
- Ex-Servicemen: Age relaxation equal to length of armed forces service plus 3 years; up to 45 years for PwBD ex-servicemen.
Salary
- Most Class-4 posts (Ward Attendant, Peon, Watchman, Gardener, OPD Attendant, Casualty Attendant, X-ray Attendant, Lab Attendant, Blood Bank Attendant, Assistant Cook, Dhobi) carry a salary of Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 47,600 per month under Pay Level S-1.
- Cook and Barber posts carry a salary of Rs. 16,600 to Rs. 52,400 per month under Pay Level S-3.
- You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Maharashtra government rules.
- Selected candidates will be covered under the New Defined Contributory Pension Scheme (notified 31 October 2005) and not the old GPF-based pension rules.

Selection Process (No Interview)
Selection is based purely on your score in the written exam. No interview will be conducted for these posts.
- Computer Based Test (CBT): 100 objective-type MCQs for 200 marks in 2 hours, covering Marathi, English, General Knowledge, and Intelligence Test/Arithmetic. You must score at least 35% marks to qualify for the merit list.
- Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must produce original certificates for verification before appointment.
You must reach the exam centre at your own expense and be present at least 1 hour before the reporting time. Once the exam starts, latecomers will not be allowed entry and no re-exam will be given.

Responsibilities
- Assist doctors, nurses and hospital staff with ward and patient support duties
- Keep hospital premises, wards and equipment clean and well maintained
- Handle assigned duties such as attending patients, managing records, cooking, security or gardening based on your post
- Move patients, files, and hospital material between departments when needed
- Report equipment faults, safety issues or emergencies to your supervisor
- Follow hospital rules, safety guidelines and duty schedules including shift/night duty
- Maintain discipline and courteous behaviour with patients and visitors
