TMC Senior Resident and Medical Officer Recruitment 2026: Overview

Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), a grant-in-aid institution under the Department of Atomic Energy, is recruiting a Senior Resident or Medical Officer in Surgical Oncology for its Bone and Soft Tissue service in Varanasi. The role supports both Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Cancer Centre, giving you exposure to a specialist cancer-care setting rather than a general orthopaedic unit.

The centre will first look for a suitable Senior Resident. A Medical Officer may be considered only when an appropriate Senior Resident is not available, so your application should clearly show whether you meet the postgraduate route or the medical-degree route. Oncology experience receives preference, making relevant surgical or cancer-care work especially useful.

Posts and Disciplines

• Senior Resident: the preferred route for a doctor with recognised postgraduate training in orthopaedics who can work within the Bone and Soft Tissue surgical oncology team.
• Medical Officer: the alternative route for an NMC-recognised medical graduate, considered when the centre cannot select a suitable Senior Resident.

Post-wise Duties

Senior Resident

You will support specialist assessment, inpatient and outpatient care, peri-operative work and clinical documentation for bone and soft-tissue oncology patients. You may also contribute to case discussions, teaching and research activity within the surgical oncology service.

Medical Officer

You will assist the clinical team with patient review, treatment coordination, records and follow-up while working within TMC clinical protocols. The exact allocation will follow the needs of the two Varanasi cancer centres.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: the engagement is fixed up to 31 July 2027, rather than an open-ended regular appointment.
• Availability: the position is filled on a first-come, first-served basis; check availability with the academic office before travelling.
• Joining: the selected doctor must be ready to join immediately and must be found medically fit.
• Preference: relevant oncology experience strengthens your case, and the Senior Resident route is considered before the Medical Officer route.
• Jurisdiction: any legal dispute connected with the engagement falls under Varanasi jurisdiction.
