Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit University (SLBSNSU) is engaging Library Professional Trainees/Interns for hands-on work in its Central Library at New Delhi. This is a one-year contractual training opportunity designed to expose early-career library professionals to the daily functioning of a university library. The training covers every library section, giving you practical experience beyond a single desk or service area.

The university describes the opening for graduate and post-graduate library professionals as a structured traineeship, not a regular university appointment. Your work will be monitored by the relevant unit in-charge, and you will be expected to learn the library's systems, support routine services and complete assigned work responsibly. Knowledge of modern library software and office applications is especially useful because the role combines traditional library practice with day-to-day digital operations.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The engagement runs for one year from joining. It is temporary and ends automatically when the approved term finishes.
• Working pattern: Trainees work six days a week and may be placed on rotating shifts according to the Central Library's needs.
• Performance: The unit in-charge will monitor your training and work. Poor performance or misconduct can lead to early termination.
• Notice period: Either side may end the traineeship with one month's written notice, subject to the university's stated power to terminate an engagement when necessary.
• Prior training: Candidates who have already completed a library traineeship, apprenticeship or internship should not apply. Selected trainees must give an undertaking confirming this condition.
• Leave: You can use two days of paid leave per month. Unused leave does not carry forward and cannot be exchanged for cash.
• Completion certificate: SLBSNSU will issue a proficiency certificate after you complete the training and submit a brief report or feedback.
• No regularisation: The traineeship does not create a claim to a permanent or regular university post during or after the engagement.
• Selection visit: The university will not pay TA or DA for attending the walk-in process or joining the traineeship.

Report for attendance and document checking at Committee Room No. 03, Shaikshanik Sadan Building, SLBSNSU, New Delhi 110016. The walk-in test is held in the Central Library, and the notification asks you to arrive earlier for verification.

Bring the prescribed application in hard copy with a recent passport-size photograph, self-attested supporting copies and the originals needed for verification. Check the official notice before travelling, as meeting the basic criteria does not itself guarantee selection.
