SER Scouts & Guides Quota Recruitment 2026-27: Overview

South Eastern Railway (SER) is filling 10 posts reserved under its Scouts & Guides Quota for the year 2026-27, through the Railway Recruitment Cell at Kolkata. Two Level-2 (Group C) posts are open at the SER headquarters, and eight Level-1 (Erstwhile Group D) posts are spread two each across the Adra, Chakradharpur, Kharagpur and Ranchi divisions. This is a dedicated quota drive for candidates with a genuine Scouts & Guides background — you cannot apply under this notice without the prescribed Scouting/Guiding qualification, no matter how strong your academic record is. School pass-outs who have stayed active in Scouting or Guiding for at least five years can apply.

Posts and Disciplines

• Level-2 (Group C): two posts based at the South Eastern Railway Headquarters, Kolkata, open to 12th pass candidates (or 10th pass with NAC/ITI), plus the Scouting/Guiding qualification.
• Level-1 (Erstwhile Group D): eight posts spread two each across the Adra, Chakradharpur, Kharagpur and Ranchi divisions, open to 10th pass or ITI/NAC holders, plus the same Scouting/Guiding qualification.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Scouting/Guiding qualification: you must hold a President Scout/Guide/Rover/Ranger award or a Himalayan Wood Badge, have stayed an active member for at least five years, and have attended events at both National/All India Railways level and State level.
• Open quota: this drive is open to candidates of every community; no reservation roster applies here, though SC/ST/OBC/EWS candidates can still claim age relaxation.
• Typing proficiency: if you are appointed to a Clerk-cum-Typist post in Level-2, you must acquire 30 wpm typing speed in English (or 25 wpm in Hindi) within two years of joining.
• Exam language: you can choose to take the written test in Hindi or English.
• Fee refund: your examination fee is partly or fully refundable once you actually appear for the written test.

Application Submission Notes

You can apply only online, through the official RRC/SER website (www.rrcser.co.in). Register with your name, father's name, date of birth, community, email and mobile number to receive your login credentials by email/SMS, then log in and complete the form step by step, uploading your photograph, signature, Left Thumb Impression and self-attested certificates. Keep two printouts of your completed form after final submission — applications sent directly to RRC/SER by post will not be entertained. You must apply separately for Level-1 and Level-2 if you want to be considered for both.

• Support day-to-day departmental duties in the assigned railway division office or headquarters
• Maintain records and assist with routine administrative or technical work as per the post
• Assist in Scouts & Guides activities organised by South Eastern Railway
• Follow railway service rules, safety guidelines and reporting procedures
• Acquire the prescribed typing proficiency within the stipulated period, if posted as Clerk-cum-Typist
• Take part in departmental training and orientation programmes
