Punjab Haryana HC Driver Recruitment 2026: Overview
High Court of Punjab and Haryana at Chandigarh is recruiting Drivers for its Chandigarh establishment through Employment Notice No. 04/DRV/HC/2026. This is a regular court-establishment appointment governed by the service rules adopted for High Court employees. The role is built around official car duty, and the notice makes clear that driving work may continue beyond normal office hours or fall at odd hours.
The recruitment is meant for candidates who can combine safe driving with the discipline expected in a constitutional court. Selected Drivers will support judges, officers and authorised court movement, so punctuality, vehicle care and dependable conduct matter alongside practical driving ability. The notice treats an LMV licence as a specific requirement rather than accepting a higher vehicle endorsement as an automatic substitute.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Vacancy position: The advertised requirement can increase or decrease before the merit list is prepared, and the High Court will decide the final number of recommendations.
- Pay rules: Pay and allowances will follow the latest Punjab Government rules and instructions adopted by the High Court for its employees.
- Working hours: You may need to drive beyond normal court hours and at odd hours when official duty demands it.
- Licence condition: The High Court specifically asks for a valid LMV licence; an endorsement for another vehicle class does not by itself prove LMV eligibility or driving competence.
- Driving record: You must not have a conviction for negligent driving. Your claimed car-driving experience must also meet the notice's cut-off requirements.
- Reserved-category benefit: SC, ST and BC concessions tied to Punjab, Haryana or U.T. Chandigarh are available only under the conditions stated in the notice; candidates from other regions pay and compete under the applicable outside-state terms.
- Single application: If you send more than one application for a category, the portal will treat only the latest one as valid.
Application Submission Notes
Keep a recent colour photograph and signature in JPG format, each within the portal's 50 KB limit, along with an active mobile number and e-mail address. The photograph should not be older than 30 days, and you should retain access to the same phone and e-mail throughout the selection process.
The portal lets you review personal details and replace uploaded files after saving, but eligibility details cannot be edited at that stage. Check licence, education and experience entries carefully before final submission because the High Court says it will not accept later correction requests.
No hard copy has to be sent to the High Court after the online form is completed. Keep a printout and copies of your supporting records for later checking when the court calls you.
