Panjab University (PU) Guest Faculty (Computer Science) Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh has invited applications for 1 Guest Faculty post in the Department of Computer Science & Applications, to teach MCA and M.Sc Computer Science students along with CBCS (Choice Based Credit System) and VAC (Value Added Course) subjects. This is not a permanent teaching post — it is a lecture-basis engagement, and you get paid per lecture delivered rather than a fixed monthly salary. It is a good short-term opportunity for NET/PhD-qualified Computer Science candidates who want teaching experience at a reputed central university before applying for regular Assistant Professor positions.

Who Can Apply?

Option A — Master's Degree Route:

• MCA (Master of Computer Applications) / M.Sc in Computer Science or IT or Computer Applications / M.Tech or an allied subject, with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade) from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
• Relaxation: A 5% relaxation in marks is given to SC/ST/Differently-abled/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates and to PhD degree holders who obtained their Master's degree before 19 September 1991.
• Besides the above, you must have cleared NET (UGC/CSIR) or SLET/SET, or hold a PhD degree as per University Grants Commission (UGC) norms.
• Candidates registered for a PhD before 11 July 2009 are exempted from NET/SLET/SET, subject to conditions on regular-mode evaluation, external examiners, an open viva voce, and at least two published research papers with two conference presentations — certified by the Registrar/Dean (Academic Affairs).

Option B — Foreign PhD Route:

• A PhD degree from a foreign university/institution ranked among the top 500 in the World University Rankings (by QS, THE, or ARWU-Shanghai) at any time.

Additional requirement: You must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your present employer along with your application.

Salary

• This is a lecture-basis engagement. You get a token honorarium of Rs. 1,500 per lecture, with an upper limit of Rs. 50,000 per month.
• You will need to give an undertaking that you will not draw any other fellowship, stipend, or financial assistance from any agency while teaching as Guest Faculty.
• Candidates already availing a JRF scholarship at the University are not entitled to this honorarium, but will be issued an experience certificate for the Guest Faculty engagement.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written exam. Selection is based on:

1. Application Screening: Your soft-copy application, in the prescribed proforma, will be screened by the Chairperson's office.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview at the office of the Chairperson, Department of Computer Science & Applications. The date and time will be sent to you by email.
3. Document Verification: Bring your original certificates and other relevant documents to the interview for verification.

No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.

1. Download the prescribed application proforma (Direct Recruitment Guest Faculty Application Form as per UGC Regulation 2018) from the Panjab University forms portal.
2. Fill it in and attach self-attested copies of all relevant certificates/documents, along with a No Objection Certificate from your present employer.
3. Email the soft copy of your complete application to chairpersondcsa@pu.ac.in by 2 September 2026, 5:00 PM.
4. Also submit a hard copy of the same application to the office of the Chairperson, Department of Computer Science & Applications, Panjab University, Chandigarh, by the due date.
