About This Job

Apply for NITC JRF Mathematics. Master's in Mathematics with 60% and CSIR-UGC JRF/NET or GATE eligible. Rs 37,000 monthly. Last date: 17 Sep 2026.

NITC JRF Mathematics Recruitment 2026: Overview

National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC) is engaging a Junior Research Fellow in the Department of Mathematics for a Government of India-sponsored research project. The project, titled Computations in Equivariant Cohomology and Topological Data Analysis, sits at the meeting point of pure mathematical structures and computational methods. It is a focused opportunity for a mathematics postgraduate who has cleared a national research-eligibility test and wants project-based research experience.

The sponsoring programme is identified in the notice as ANRF PM ECRG. Your academic foundation should cover the mathematical areas used by the project, while familiarity with LaTeX and confident oral and written communication will help with research records and presentations. The role is attached to the project rather than a regular institute position.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Initial tenure: the appointment begins with a three-month contract and may be extended for up to three years, depending on your performance and the availability of project funds.
  • Shortlisting: meeting the stated qualification does not automatically lead to an interview; the department will contact shortlisted applicants by email.
  • Document responsibility: you are responsible for the accuracy and authenticity of everything sent with the application.
  • Applicants in employment: if you already work for a government or other organisation, bring a No Objection Certificate from your employer when interviewed.
  • Travel support: the institute will not pay TA or DA for taking part in the interview.
  • Exceptional credentials: the institute reserves the right to relax qualification or experience conditions for a particularly strong applicant.

The work is best suited to someone comfortable moving between advanced topology, algebraic topology and real analysis. Since the notice also asks for communication ability, expect the fellowship to involve explaining methods and results clearly, not only carrying out calculations.

Application Submission Notes

Complete the registration form attached to the notice and combine it with your supporting material into one PDF document. Email that file to hodmaths@nitc.ac.in, with a copy to pinkadey@nitc.ac.in.

Use the subject line “Application for JRF/Computations in equivariant cohomology and topological data analysis”. The specific subject helps the Mathematics department route your email to the right project, so keep the project wording clear and unchanged.

Your consolidated file should make it easy for the department to check your academic record and relevant experience. Before sending it, confirm that the registration form, latest CV and supporting certificates are readable and that the contact details in your CV are current.

The notice contains two different interview dates in separate places, so do not rely on an assumed schedule. If shortlisted, follow the interview date stated in the department's email and ask the listed contacts for clarification if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Study equivariant cohomology and topological data analysis methods for the research project
  • Develop and check mathematical computations under the project investigator's guidance
  • Review relevant research papers and organise key findings
  • Prepare technical notes, equations, and research material using LaTeX
  • Analyse results and discuss their mathematical meaning with the project team
  • Present progress clearly through written updates and research discussions
