NIT Tiruchirappalli (NITT) is hiring 24 Apprentice Trainees for the 2026-2027 batch under the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS). If you are a recent Diploma or Graduate holder registered with BOAT/BOPT, you can apply online through the NATS portal. The last date to apply is 2 September 2026. You will get a monthly stipend of Rs. 14,000 (Diploma) or Rs. 15,000 (Graduate) during the one-year training period.

The National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli — one of India's premier technical institutes located in Tamil Nadu — has invited applications for Graduate and Diploma Apprentice Trainees across various engineering and technical disciplines under the Apprentices Act, 1961, and its subsequent amendments. This engagement is part of the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS), a flagship Government of India programme that empowers Indian youth with industry-relevant skills. NATS gives Diploma, Graduate, and Vocational Certificate holders practical, hands-on On-the-Job Training (OJT), with training durations that can range from 6 months to a full year depending on the trade.

Only candidates whose apprenticeship forms are registered with BOAT/BOPT within 3 years of passing their final exam are eligible to apply. Both freshers and recently qualified Diploma/Degree holders can use this opportunity to gain real, structured industry experience at a top-ranked NIT while earning a monthly stipend. This is not a regular job — it is a fixed one-year training engagement under the Apprentices Act, so you will not be able to claim any regular or part-time appointment at NIT Trichy or any other institute during or after this period.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need a Diploma or a Graduate degree (B.E./B.Tech or equivalent) in an engineering or technical discipline recognised under the Apprentices Act.
• Registration: Your apprenticeship form must be registered with the Board of Apprenticeship Training (BOAT) or Board of Practical Training (BOPT) within 3 years of passing your final examination (as per F.No 13-7/2017-TS.VII dated 17.12.2021). Candidates who registered earlier than this 3-year window are not eligible.
• Reservation: The Institute follows Government of India reservation norms while filling these apprenticeship slots.
• Note: NIT Trichy may relax the qualification and experience requirements for candidates with exceptional credentials, at the Institute's discretion.

Salary

• Diploma Apprentice Trainees will get a monthly stipend of Rs. 14,000.
• Graduate Apprentice Trainees will get a monthly stipend of Rs. 15,000.
• The apprenticeship period runs for one year for both Diploma holders and Graduates, giving you a full year of structured, hands-on training and a steady monthly stipend throughout.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

NIT Tiruchirappalli will shortlist candidates for the apprenticeship through the following steps:

1. Document Verification: Your BOAT/BOPT registration, educational certificates, and photographs will be checked for authenticity. You are responsible for the correctness of everything you submit — any discrepancy can lead to rejection.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called to the Institute for an interview. No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview, so plan your travel accordingly.

If you are already employed (in government or elsewhere), you must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your current employer at the time of the interview, along with your other documents. The decision of the selection committee is final, and canvassing in any form will lead to rejection of your candidature. NIT Trichy also reserves the right not to fill up any of the 24 posts, or to cancel the recruitment in whole or in part, without assigning a reason.

2. Note the Advertisement Number — AATN260810820114841 for Graduate posts or AATN260810848114847 for Diploma posts.
3. Click Student, then Student Register to create your profile.
4. Complete the registration form — a unique Enrolment Number will be generated for you.
5. Log in with your email ID and password.
6. Go to "Apply against advertised vacancies" and search for National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli.
7. Click Apply and track your application status on the portal.

Keep your Enrolment Number, email ID, and mobile number handy — you will need them to log in and track your application throughout the process.
