National Institute of Technology Raipur (NIT Raipur) Project Technical Assistant Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

NIT Raipur has invited applications for one Project Technical Assistant position under an industry-sponsored project at the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The project, sponsored by WARPP Engineers Pvt Limited, Mumbai, focuses on welding (TIG/MIG) of metals and materials characterization. The post is initially for six months, extendable up to a total project duration of 1.5 years based on your performance. This is a good opportunity for candidates with hands-on welding skills to work on an applied engineering research project under Principal Investigator Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Welding is a core skill used across manufacturing, infrastructure and fabrication industries, and this project gives you direct, hands-on exposure to advanced TIG/MIG welding techniques along with materials testing and characterization work. You will work closely with the Principal Investigator and the sponsoring company, WARPP Engineers, on real industrial welding problems — a good way to build your technical profile if you are looking to specialise further in welding and metallurgy.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need any ONE of the following — 12th pass with at least 2 years of work experience in the welding trade, OR a 2-year ITI course in an appropriate trade, OR a 3-year diploma in Engineering in the relevant discipline, OR proven relevant experience of at least 5 years.
• Desirable: Strong knowledge of welding, especially TIG/MIG welding operations. A welding skills test may be conducted during selection.
• You do not need a formal Engineering degree — the Institute accepts trade-based (ITI), experience-based, and diploma-based entry equally, as long as you meet one of the routes above.

Terms & Conditions:

• This position is purely temporary and depends on satisfactory performance and project review.
• You cannot hold any other regular or part-time appointment at this Institute or elsewhere during this engagement.
• This engagement does not give you any claim to a regular post at NIT Raipur or any other organisation in the future.
• Incomplete applications will be rejected, and the Institute can cancel the post without giving any reason.

Age Limit

• You should not be older than 40 years.

Salary

• You will get a consolidated monthly salary of Rs. 15,000.
• No travelling or other allowances are given for attending the interview.

Selection Process

The selection has these stages:

1. Document Screening: Your application form and certificates are checked against the eligibility criteria listed above — only candidates who meet at least one qualification route move ahead.
2. Skill Test: A welding skills test may be conducted to check your practical TIG/MIG welding ability.
3. Interview: Shortlisted candidates are interviewed at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, NIT Raipur, on 15 September 2026 from 11:00 AM.
