Meghalaya SAD Grade IV Recruitment 2026: Overview
Secretariat Administration Department (SAD), Government of Meghalaya is recruiting Grade IV support staff for the Nazarat branch of the Meghalaya Civil Secretariat. The drive combines unfilled posts from earlier cycles with a larger set of fresh positions and applies the state's reservation policy across the notified categories. The roles keep the Secretariat's offices and daily administrative movement running, from carrying files and supporting rooms to cleaning, security watch and garden upkeep.
The notice is designed for applicants with basic school education and provides separate choices for Peon, Cleaner, Sweeper, Chowkidar and Mali. You may apply for the post or posts that fit your preference through the state's recruitment portal. If you qualify for more than one Grade IV category, the Departmental Selection Committee can decide the post against which you are finally placed. Choose each option carefully and keep the reservation proof that supports the category claimed in your form.
Posts and Disciplines
- Peon: General office support involving files, messages, rooms and routine assistance to Secretariat sections.
- Cleaner: Cleaning and upkeep work for assigned office spaces, common areas and facilities.
- Sweeper: Daily sanitation work in the designated premises and proper handling of collected waste.
- Chowkidar: Watch-and-ward support, access observation and reporting of unusual activity during the assigned shift.
- Mali: Care of lawns, plants, garden areas and the basic tools used for grounds maintenance.
Post-wise Duties

You will water, trim and care for plants, keep garden areas orderly and safely handle the basic grounds-maintenance tools provided for the work.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Reservation: Appointments follow the Government of Meghalaya reservation policy. The notice includes Khasi-Jaintia, Garo, other ST/SC and unreserved categories, along with notified horizontal reservations.
- Earlier unfilled posts: Part of the recruitment carries forward positions that remained vacant in previous cycles, while the remaining positions are fresh.
- Post allocation: If one applicant qualifies across several Grade IV categories, the Departmental Selection Committee may decide the final post allocation.
- Examination centre: You select from the notified centres while applying, and the choice cannot normally be changed. The department may shift candidates from a low-response centre to the nearest available centre.
- Travel costs: You must attend the examination at your own expense.
- Accuracy of claims: Wrong information, hidden facts, impersonation or unfair means can lead to rejection, future debarment and, where applicable, criminal action.
