Meghalaya HG Guardsman Recruitment 2026: Overview
Directorate of Civil Defence and Home Guards, Government of Meghalaya is enrolling Part-Time Guardsman and Equivalent Ranks Volunteers for deployment with the Meghalaya Border Wing Home Guards Battalion. The drive is meant only for trained Home Guards volunteers who are Meghalaya residents. This is a voluntary, temporary deployment, not a route to regular government service.
The battalion may place selected volunteers with different requisitioning agencies across the state. Your assigned work can involve access control, guard duty, crowd support, emergency assistance and other security tasks under the local commanding officer. Operational discipline and readiness to serve where deployed are more important here than ordinary office experience.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Tenure: deployment is for one year and may be extended according to your performance and the work requirement.
- No regularisation: the engagement is purely temporary and voluntary; a volunteer cannot claim permanent retention, and the department can end the deployment.
- Meghalaya domicile: only Indian citizens domiciled in Meghalaya and already trained as Home Guards volunteers can be considered.
- State roster: the notice says the State Reservation Policy and roster do not apply because this is voluntary deployment.
- Interview travel: you may need to remain at the interview location for two or three days at your own cost, and no TA or DA is payable.
- Identification: carry a valid identity card and the originals of your supporting records when you appear before the interview board.
- Conduct: canvassing, offering a bribe or trying to influence the enrolment process can lead to disqualification and possible prosecution.
- Process control: the department may cancel all or part of the enrolment exercise without giving a reason.
Personal interviews are planned at Shillong and Tura, with the detailed schedule to be displayed through departmental notice boards and the official website. Watch the department's notices after applying, because the application deadline is not the interview date.
Application Submission Notes
Use the prescribed Standard Form and attach attested copies supporting your identity, training, education, age, domicile and fitness. Submit the complete set by hand or post to the District Home Guards Office, District Training Centre or Civil Defence Office from which you are being deployed with requisitioning agencies.
Choose the office connected with your current deployment area rather than sending the form to an unrelated district. Late or incomplete applications are rejected, and the notice says the department will not correspond about missing records. Keep your originals ready for the interview board even though copies go with the form.
Responsibilities
- Perform guard and access-control duties at the assigned deployment point
- Follow instructions from battalion and local commanding officers
- Support crowd control, emergency response and civil-defence activity when directed
- Protect assigned premises, equipment and public property during duty
- Report security incidents and unusual activity through the proper chain
- Maintain discipline, readiness and valid identification throughout deployment
