KAU Guest Lecturer Forestry Recruitment 2026: Overview

Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) needs a Guest Lecturer in Forestry at its Regional Agricultural Research Station in Kumarakom, Kottayam. The lecturer will handle Forestry classes for the B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture programme on a daily-wage, session-based arrangement. This is useful if you already have a strong Forestry academic background and want classroom experience in a university research-station setting, but the role is a short academic engagement rather than a regular faculty appointment.

The station combines teaching with regional agricultural research, so your classroom work sits close to field-oriented science and the practical needs of agriculture students. Both theory and practical teaching may form part of the assignment, requiring clear explanations, organised lesson delivery and close guidance during hands-on sessions. The notice gives preference to the standard national eligibility route, while also explaining how KAU may consider the available applicant pool if that route does not produce a suitable person.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Academic tenure: The appointment is purely provisional and lasts for the semester or until a regular person joins, whichever happens first. You do not gain a right to permanency or regularisation in KAU through this engagement.
  • Session-based work: Payment is linked to the theory or practical sessions handled rather than a fixed monthly post. You should be ready for teaching hours set around the B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture timetable.
  • Qualification fallback: If no NET-qualified person is available, KAU may consider an applicant with a recognised master's degree in the concerned discipline. This is a fallback in the notice, not an automatic waiver for every applicant.
  • Performance: The station may end the daily-wage engagement if teaching performance is unsatisfactory or another serious issue is found.
  • Travel costs: KAU will not pay TA or DA for attending the interview or handling sessions, so you should plan travel to Kumarakom at your own cost.
  • Communication: Interview information will be sent individually by email or phone. Keep both contact channels active and check messages from the station.

Application Submission Notes

Use the application format attached to the official KAU notification, complete it carefully and email the scanned form to acadug.rarskum@kau.in. Address it to the Associate Director of Research, Regional Agricultural Research Station, Kumarakom, Kottayam. The email must reach the station before the stated afternoon cut-off; sending it late can remove you from consideration.

Attach clear, self-attested scans supporting the information in your form. If called, take the original records and photo identity proof to the Regional Agricultural Research Station at Kumarakom for checking. Scientific publications and relevant experience records can also support your academic profile when they apply to you.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Forestry topics to B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture students
  • Prepare clear lesson plans and classroom material for each session
  • Guide students during Forestry practical sessions and demonstrations
  • Explain field-based concepts using simple and accurate examples
  • Keep attendance, session and academic records required by the station
  • Coordinate teaching schedules with the Regional Agricultural Research Station faculty
