JJB Thanjavur Clerk and Office Assistant Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), Thanjavur is adding office staff to its team, and the hiring is run by the Department of Children Welfare and Special Services of the Tamil Nadu government through the District Child Protection Unit. These are additional posts created for the board, which hears cases involving children in conflict with the law. All these roles are purely temporary and paid a fixed consolidated amount each month, so this is not a regular government appointment. What makes this drive stand out is its range: there is a role for graduates, one for Class 10 pass candidates and one for anyone who has cleared Class 8.

Posts and Disciplines

  • Assistant cum Bench Clerk: the senior desk role at the board, open to graduates of any stream, including arts, science, commerce, engineering and medicine. Candidates who have passed the Computer on Office Automation course run by the Directorate of Technical Education, or who hold a computer diploma or degree, get preference.
  • Junior Assistant cum Record Clerk: a records and data-entry role for candidates who have passed the SSLC (Class 10) exam from a state or central board and are comfortable working on a computer.
  • Office Assistant: a support role for candidates who have passed Class 8 from a school recognised by a government or private school board.

Post-wise Duties

Assistant cum Bench Clerk

You will sit with the board during its hearings, call out cases, keep the case diary and order sheets up to date, and prepare notices and proceedings on the computer. Good typing and basic office software skills will help you a lot in this job.

Junior Assistant cum Record Clerk

You will look after the case files and registers of the board, enter details into the computer, file papers in the right order and find old records when the bench or the staff ask for them.

Office Assistant

You will handle the day-to-day support work of the office: carrying files between sections, delivering letters and notices, keeping the office and record room tidy and helping the other staff when needed.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Nature of posts: All the posts are completely temporary. You will be paid a fixed monthly consolidated pay with no regular pay scale.
  • Removal without notice: The administration can remove a selected person from service for administrative reasons without any prior notice.
  • No claim to the post: If you are removed from the post, you cannot claim any right to that job.
  • Complete applications only: Late applications, forms that are not fully filled, and forms sent without the proper documents will not be accepted.
