IRFC Head of Internal Audit Recruitment 2026: Overview
Indian Railway Finance Corporation Limited (IRFC), a Schedule A Navratna company under the Ministry of Railways, is engaging a Head of Internal Audit at its New Delhi office. IRFC finances railway-sector infrastructure, so this role sits close to large public-finance operations, board-level oversight and regulatory compliance. The opportunity is open through two routes: retired senior professionals may join on contract, while serving officials may come on deputation. The selected professional works within IRFC's governance framework, taking significant audit matters through functional directors and the Audit Committee of the Board, which makes the role especially relevant to people who have already handled risk, compliance and assurance in a large regulated institution.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Engagement route: retired officials are considered for contractual engagement, while serving officials are considered on deputation. The appointment does not create a claim to regular or permanent employment with IRFC. Your service status determines which route and related terms apply.
- Tenure: the engagement is for three years under either route, subject to the terms applicable to the selected candidate.
- Serving officials: your application must move through the proper channel and include a No Objection Certificate from the current employer.
- Retired officials: the final package is linked to your previous pay and pension position under IRFC's stated re-engagement policy.
- Professional standing: the selected person must have a clean service record and unquestionable integrity. No vigilance matter or adverse observation from RBI or another regulator should be pending.
- Evidence check: IRFC may reject the application if proof of age, qualification, experience or previous pay is missing. Any false or hidden material fact can lead to cancellation, including after appointment. The particulars and supporting records must remain accurate throughout the process.
- Release documents: if selected, you must produce the relieving order and last pay slip from your most recent organisation.
- Corporate discretion: IRFC may restrict, change or cancel the engagement process when operationally necessary. It may also relax or raise the stated professional criteria in deciding suitability, and its decision under the notification governs the process.

Use the application format attached to the official notification and make sure every section is readable and complete. Attach documentary proof for education, professional experience and last-drawn pay, along with the route-specific papers that apply to you.
