Indian Institute of Technology Jammu (IIT Jammu) is engaging Research Assistants in the Department of Electrical Engineering for an R&D project sanctioned by DRDL Hyderabad. The project, IoT Node Development for ML/AI based Sustainable Intrusion Detection System, combines optical and thermal camera feeds to detect human intrusion across daytime and night-time conditions. It also uses a movable, zoom-controlled gimbal to widen surveillance coverage and improve long-range observation. This is a hands-on embedded systems and computer-vision assignment rather than a general academic support role.

Your work will connect IoT sensing, edge computing, camera systems and motion control into one real-time platform. The notice expects the research team to handle both hardware-facing communication and software integration, including low-latency operation across analytics, telemetry and motor control. This makes the role most suitable for someone comfortable moving between circuits, protocols, code, experiments and technical documentation.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Short initial tenure: The appointment begins with a three-month term and may be extended only when performance is satisfactory. It remains co-terminus with the project, which is scheduled to end on 31 December 2026.
• Conditional experience route: Applicants using the master's-degree route need the specified R&D background, while the notification also provides a doctoral-degree route. Read the qualification wording carefully before choosing the basis of your application.
• Academic record: The master's route carries a consistent marks or CGPA condition beginning from Class XII. Keep records for each stage ready because the institute may check the complete academic trail.
• Shortlisting: Meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee an interview call. The project team may shortlist on merit and its technical needs.
