Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad) is hiring a Chief Technical Officer (CTO) for its Centre of Clean Coal Energy & Net Zero (CLEANZ), a Centre of Excellence created in collaboration with Coal India Ltd. The role is a contractual appointment supporting the centre's research and technology-development work. CLEANZ brings together clean-coal, carbon and energy research, so you would join a centre with several connected technical areas.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Centre's research scope: CLEANZ works on coal-bed and coal-mine methane recovery, carbon capture, mineral beneficiation, rare earth elements and critical minerals. These themes place the appointment in an energy and resource-research setting.
• Other technical themes: The centre also covers gasification and syngas use, coal liquefaction and pyrolysis, circular economy and waste management, artificial intelligence and machine learning applications, energy efficiency and conservation, and new carbon materials.
• Contract period: The appointment lasts two years, with the possibility of an extension for one more year. The extra year is a possibility, not an assured part of the initial engagement.
• Leave: Scientific and technical staff receive leave under the host institution's rules. Your appointment therefore follows the relevant institutional rules for leave rather than a separately stated leave entitlement in this notice.
