IITH Technical Support Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH) is building a team for an Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) funded AI-assisted 3D vein-viewer project in the Department of Physics at Kandi, Sangareddy. The portable device combines near-infrared (NIR) stereovision with artificial intelligence (AI) based depth mapping to help clinicians place intravenous lines and carry out jugular cannulation in challenging patients. These project appointments connect device development with laboratory and clinical coordination.

Posts and Disciplines

  • Project Technical Support-III, Non-Medical: This role focuses on developing, testing and validating the vein-viewer prototype. It brings together the device's imaging, embedded hardware and mechanical components within the same project.
  • Project Technical Support-I, Non-Medical: This role supports the hands-on laboratory work behind the device, including assembly, experimental records, components and imaging trials. It also helps the project team with routine technical support.

Post-wise Duties

Project Technical Support-III

You will help build and troubleshoot the prototype, bringing together NIR lighting, cameras, Raspberry Pi or other embedded hardware, displays and power modules. Your work also includes computer-aided design, 3D printing and enclosure improvements, with attention to thermal management.

You will support camera alignment, calibration and phantom testing as the team checks the device in the laboratory. Collecting and analysing data, preparing project reports and presentations, and coordinating with scientists, clinicians, engineers and industry partners are also part of this role.

Project Technical Support-I

You will help with device assembly, wiring and routine maintenance, along with laboratory experiments and basic imaging trials. The notice also places component procurement, inventory, mechanical assembly and support for 3D printing within this role.

You will keep experimental records and project files organised, including data sheets and images. The team will also need your help with reports, presentations and coordination at clinical sites as the project progresses.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Initial tenure: The appointment starts as soon as possible and runs for 11 months. The notice allows an extension for another three years, but this depends on performance and available funding.
  • Project engagement: The positions are temporary appointments tied to the funded research work. Read the extension provision as a possibility subject to those conditions, rather than an assured term.
  • Recruitment discretion: Meeting the stated requirements does not guarantee a call from the project team. The principal investigator may leave a position unfilled if no suitable applicant is found.
  • Notice wording: An introductory sentence names a Project Research Scientist post, while the subject line, post table and role descriptions identify Technical Support-I and Technical Support-III. This listing follows those detailed role entries.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and troubleshoot vein-viewer prototypes and wiring.
  • Integrate imaging, embedded hardware, display and power components for Support-III.
  • Support CAD work, 3D printing and mechanical assembly.
  • Run camera calibration, phantom tests and laboratory imaging trials.
  • Collect experimental data and keep images and project records organised.
  • Prepare reports and presentations with the project team.
  • Coordinate technical work with clinicians and other project partners.
