IISER Tirupati PA-I JRF Chemistry Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Tirupati (IISER Tirupati) is hiring a Project Associate-I / Junior Research Fellow for a chemistry research project supported by the Ministry of Education’s STARS programme. The work belongs to Dr. Sudipta Roy’s project on carbene-phosphinidenide ligands, mixed-valence transition-metal clusters, catalysis and light-emitting materials. This is a hands-on synthetic chemistry role, so it is best suited to someone who wants laboratory research experience and may later consider the institute’s regular PhD programme.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Project-linked appointment: the engagement is temporary and ends automatically when the research project ends. It does not create a claim for a regular position with IISER Tirupati or the funding agency.
  • Initial review: the appointment is renewable after an initial three-month period, and continuation depends on satisfactory work. The project and funding terms will govern any extension.
  • Qualification status: your required degree must come from a recognised university or institution. Candidates waiting for their final qualifying result cannot use a pending result to meet the requirement.
  • Shortlisting: meeting the basic qualification does not guarantee an interview. The screening committee may use relevant qualifications and research experience beyond the minimum to keep the interview list manageable.
  • Research fit: experience in organic or inorganic synthesis is preferred because the project centres on preparing and studying reactive ligand and metal-cluster systems.
  • Joining: the selected researcher is expected to join promptly after receiving the offer. You should apply only if you can take up the project work without a long delay.
  • Interview costs: the institute will not pay TA or DA for attending the interview. Shortlisted candidates should plan their travel accordingly if an in-person interaction is scheduled.
  • Research degree option: selection for the project does not itself mean PhD admission. You may separately apply to the regular PhD programme if you meet its admission rules.
  • Information accuracy: IISER Tirupati can cancel candidature or appointment if submitted claims or supporting records are later found incorrect. Canvassing or outside influence also leads to disqualification.
