Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune is engaging a Laboratory Teaching Assistant on a temporary and contractual basis in its Biology Department. The assignment supports the institute's Introduction to Computing course for BS-MS students, making it a practical teaching opportunity for a science or engineering graduate who is comfortable with Python programming.

The role centres on the course's hands-on computer-lab component. You will help prepare programming exercises, run lab sessions, coordinate schedules with other teaching assistants, and hold office hours for students who need help with course questions. Weekly evaluation is part of the work, including checking assignments and computer-lab exercises.

Prior scientific-computing experience and earlier teaching of Python-based courses are useful because the assistant must connect programming ideas with student practice. Service Conditions and Caveats

• Temporary engagement: The appointment is contractual and can end automatically without separate notice or compensation. It does not create a regular position at IISER Pune.
• Tenure: The notified engagement runs up to the end of December 2026. IISER Pune may shorten it or extend it further depending on performance and the continued need for services.
• No absorption claim: Selection gives no right to regular appointment or absorption in IISER Pune.
• Institute terms: The appointment will be governed by IISER Pune's applicable rules and conditions.
• Screening: The institute may use an additional percentage cut-off when needed. Meeting the minimum qualification alone does not guarantee that you will be considered through every part of the selection exercise.
• Large turnout: If many people report, the Screening Committee may restrict the interview pool after considering qualifications and experience above the basic requirement.
• Position requirement: The number of positions may change during selection according to the institute's need. A waitlisted applicant may receive an offer if the selected person does not join or later resigns.
• Travel: No TA or DA will be paid for attending the walk-in interview.
