IIPS Senior Research Officer Recruitment 2026: Overview
International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS) is engaging a Senior Research Officer for its institute-funded study on social health insurance and universal health coverage in India. The project looks at insurance coverage, effectiveness and access barriers before and after the launch of PMJAY, giving the selected researcher a chance to work on a policy question with direct public-health relevance. This is a project appointment, not a regular institute post.
The role sits between hands-on analysis and research coordination. You will work with evidence from demographic and health surveys, community research and published studies while helping the project team turn findings into reports and academic outputs. The project expects a researcher who can connect quantitative evidence with the practical experience of households using health-insurance schemes, rather than treating the assignment as a purely desk-based statistical exercise.
IIPS is a specialist institution for population and health research, so the assignment offers close exposure to demography, public health and social-policy work in one setting. The project also uses large survey sources such as NSS and NFHS and draws on both quantitative and qualitative approaches. You should be comfortable moving between datasets, literature and field-oriented questions during the short initial term.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Project tenure: The first appointment is for three months and may continue until the project ends if your performance and the project's needs support an extension.
- Temporary status: The engagement ends when the project is completed or the approved appointment period expires, whichever happens first.
- Research setting: The work is attached to the social health-insurance project and does not create a claim to a permanent IIPS position.
- Relaxation: The selection committee may relax the stated education or work-experience conditions in a deserving case.
- Travel support: IIPS will not pay TA or DA for attending the walk-in interview.
- Performance focus: Any continuation beyond the initial term depends on the quality and timely completion of project work.

Carry material that supports the education, research and software experience stated in your profile, because the notice allows the selection committee to assess whether your background fits the project.
