If you have already completed 4 years as an SRF/SPF/JRF/JPF, you are not eligible to apply for this post. If you are currently employed elsewhere, you must bring a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your current employer. Your Ph.D. period and any teaching experience will not be counted as research experience for this post.

Age Limit

  • For the Junior Project Fellow post, the upper age limit is 28 years as on 01 June 2026.
  • Age Relaxation: Candidates from SC/ST, OBC, Women, and Persons with Disabilities get a relaxation of up to 5 years.
  • The notification does not specify a separate age limit for the Project Assistant post.

Salary

  • The Junior Project Fellow will get a consolidated fellowship of Rs. 24,000 per month.
  • The Project Assistant will get a consolidated amount of Rs. 22,000 per month.
  • The fellowship/engagement is governed by ICFRE rules and does not guarantee subsequent employment in any institute under the Council.

Tenure and Duration

Both positions are initially engaged for 12 months, or until the project is completed, or until funds are available — whichever is earlier. Your tenure may be extended depending on the project's requirements, as per ICFRE rules. This duration applies separately to each of the two posts under this notice.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is through a walk-in interview only, with no written test at any stage:

  1. Interview: Eligible candidates will be interviewed on 10 September 2026 starting 9:00 AM in the Board Room of the FRI Main Building.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field surveys to evaluate the transplantation success of tree species in the Delhi Region
  • Collect and record field data on transplanted trees and their survival status
  • Assist the Principal Investigator in day-to-day project execution and data analysis
  • Travel extensively across the Delhi Region for site visits and monitoring
  • Prepare progress reports and scientific documentation for the project
  • Maintain project records using MS Office and computer applications
  • Coordinate with the Forest Research Institute team on project deliverables
  • Support field-based scientific evaluation tasks as assigned by the PI

Minimum Qualification

B.Sc. in Forestry/Botany/Environmental Science (Project Assistant) or Master's Degree with First Class in Forestry/Agroforestry/Botany/Environmental Science (Junior Project Fellow)

Preferred Qualification

Capable of extensive touring; knowledge of MS Office and computer applications; experience in the relevant field
