Gujarat Technological University IPR Professor Chair Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Gujarat Technological University (GTU), a Gujarat government university accredited with NAAC A+ grade, has released Advertisement No. 02/2026 for the IPR-Professor-Chair Position under SPRIHA. SPRIHA focuses on pedagogy and research in Intellectual Property Rights for holistic education and academia. The appointment is for a 5-year period commencing from 2026-27.

The position is meant for senior experts with strong academic, legal, administrative, or professional experience in technology, innovation, and IP management. The chair will support IPR education, research, seminars, workshops, course development, and student awareness about intellectual property.

Who Can Apply?

Academic Route

• Professor/Associate Professor route: You should have served as, or meet the UGC eligibility criteria for serving as, a Professor or Associate Professor.
• IPR experience: You should have sufficient teaching and research experience in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).

Legal or Professional Route

• IP attorney: You can apply if you have practised IPR law for at least 10 years.
• Recognised IPR professional: You can apply if you have significant recognition in the IPR field with not less than 10 years of experience.

Retired IP Office Official Route

• Retired official: You can apply if you retired from the IP Office under CGPDTM.
• Doctorate and level: You must hold a doctorate degree and have at least 5 years of experience at Level 12 or above.
• Eligible examples: Controller of Patent & Design, Registrar of Trademark & Geographical Indications, or Registrar of Copyrights.

Age Limit

• Anyone above 70 years is not eligible for appointment as IPR Chair.
• The individual appointment can be for a term up to 5 years from the date of appointment.
• No person may continue as IPR Chair for more than 5 years from their appointment date.

Salary

• Consolidated salary: Rs. 1.5 lakh per month for the full-time IPR Chair.
• Annual increment: 3% of current pay after completion of each 12-month period from the appointment date.
• The notice does not mention separate DA, HRA, TA, or other allowances.

Application Fee

• General category: Rs. 590 (Rs. 500 + 18% GST).
• EWS / S&EBC / SC / ST / PD: Rs. 295 (Rs. 250 + 18% GST).

• Fees once paid will not be refunded.

Selection Process

GTU may call shortlisted candidates for a written test and/or personal interview. Meeting the minimum qualification does not automatically guarantee a call for the next stage.

1. Application Scrutiny: GTU will check eligibility, experience, and supporting documents.
2. Written Test, if held: The date, time, and place will be announced later through a circular on the GTU website.
3. Personal Interview: Original testimonials, certificates, and documents must be produced at the interview, if called.
4. Document Verification: GTU can verify antecedents and documents at appointment or during service.
5. Final Result: The result will be published on the GTU website after completion of the selection process.
