DU Soybean Project Research Recruitment 2026: Overview

University of Delhi (DU) is building a small research team in its Department of Botany for a Department of Biotechnology-funded soybean project. The study explores functional foods made with microbial resources from traditionally fermented foods of North East India, linking plant science with fermentation, microbiology and food-health research. The notice pairs an experienced research position with an early-career fellowship, giving the project both independent technical capacity and hands-on experimental support. Both roles are tied to the project, making them best suited to researchers who want focused laboratory work rather than a permanent university appointment.

Posts and Disciplines

  • Senior Project Associate: A research-intensive role for someone who can work with limited supervision across fermentation, microbiology, cell culture and animal-study components.
  • Junior Research Fellow: An early-career fellowship supporting the same soybean functional-food programme through experiments, data handling and research documentation.

Post-wise Duties

Senior Project Associate

You will help shape the experimental workflow, coordinate advanced laboratory activities and connect the microbial, cell-culture and animal-study work. You may also guide day-to-day research planning, review datasets and support technical reporting for the project investigator.

Junior Research Fellow

You will run assigned fermentation and microbiology experiments, keep sample and culture records, and prepare clean datasets for analysis. The work also involves helping with literature review, progress notes and research outputs as the project moves through its laboratory stages.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Project tenure: These appointments are purely contractual and co-terminus with the project. The engagement can end when the project is completed even if its planned duration has not fully elapsed.
  • Shortlisting: Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee an interview call. DU can limit the shortlist using relevant higher qualifications, stronger experience or the project's specific technical needs.
  • Equivalent qualifications: The scrutiny committee decides whether another qualification is equivalent to one named in the notice. Exceptionally strong applicants may receive relaxation only in desirable, not essential, criteria at the competent authority's discretion.
  • Interview travel: The university will not pay TA or DA for attending the interview.
  • Original records: If shortlisted, you must show the original academic, fellowship, publication and experience records at the interview. The self-attested set sent with the application must match those originals.
  • Research environment: The work is based in the Department of Botany, University of Delhi, with project tasks determined by the soybean functional-food study and its approved scientific plan.

Application Submission Notes

Use the form attached to the official DU project notice and combine it with the required self-attested supporting records in a single PDF. Send that file by e-mail to amit@botany.du.ac.in with the subject “Application for Senior Project Associate/Junior Research Fellow position”. State the position you are applying for clearly in the form.

The application form asks for your academic record from school onward, research training, publications, awards or fellowships, and three referees. Present the information in a consistent order and make sure your NET, GATE or other qualifying certificate is easy to identify where it applies to your chosen role.

Only shortlisted applicants receive an interview call, so use an active e-mail address and phone number. Keep the originals ready for the interview because the department checks them before accepting the supporting copies as final evidence.
